Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

If this came to fruition i think that would be the final straw for me. Wouldn't be spending my hard earned on a Saturday watching that little parcel jog round Goodison. Na sorry.
Thankfully Ancelotti is no mug. We wouldn't have seen the likes of Walcott, Iwobi, Keane, Tosun, Niasse et al arrive at Goodison if he were in charge back then, regardless of money constraints. Ancelotti would laugh at the thought of building a team around the utter no-mark bell end that is Jesse Lingard. Absolutely awful player who will have zero motivartion to work hard for any 'lesser' team he joins from United.

Where’s this narrative come from that Bernard “goes missing”? Do people understand what that means? Like, not getting a goal or assist in a game doesn’t mean you’ve “gone missing”, he never stops running, tracking back, and seems to get on the ball more than any other player in the team even if he has a bad game and the things he tries don’t come off. Going missing is what Gylfi Sigurdsson does, where he literally touches the ball about 7 times in a game and you forget he’s on the pitch.
It’s no surprise we always look at our best when Bernard plays

While everybody appreciates his consistent hard work and tracking back, as you mention in your post, he has a shocking lack of impact far too often in the final third of the pitch, reflected, again as you show, in his numbers. At least from me, that's what I mean from "goes missing", i.e. "goes missing where it counts".

I remember that time he turned that Leicester defender inside out two years ago to set up a goal for us, and literally cannot remember another time where he's waltzed past somebody and turned that into something meaningful.

Like I said, if he were on much lower wages I'd be all for keeping him, but I don't think Everton can have somebody on 150k a week who doesn't produce week-in, week-out. I think it's a huge shame as I really, really appreciate what he can do as a footballer.

That said, if somehow Everton find it financially alright to have 150k-a-week attacking midfielders who score two goals a season, then I would definitely champion keeping him as he does bring the best out of other players, when he is on form.

Darren Bent urging Everton to sign lingard and build a team around him ha. Should be able to get him for only £30 million
You lot are wrong about Jesse. Ha.
The same Bent who said Richarlison wasn’t worth 80mil and didn’t score enough goals. But a carthorse like lingard who gets 1 goal a season is worth 30. What a idiot

Just to add that the physicality of the PL means he sometimes gets bullied.

Personally don't think either of those have what it takes to make much of a prolonged impact in this division. Bernard has proven that he's a 1 in 10 player who goes missing far too often, and Iwobi is just so far off the quality needed it's funny. If Bernard was on squad player wages I'd keep him, but as he's our top earner I would be actively looking to offload him. Iwobi I fear will be the modern day reincarnation of Bolasie and we'll be stuck with him until his contract is up in 2024. Shocking, shocking signing - Marco's final gift to us.

Edit: I've decided to update my posts when I get some coward adding their negative rep to it. Subject X can be displayed below:

Anonymous -5 Points Bernard is a great player, so no

Great player lol What a bellend. Out yourself or forever remain a coward.
I agree with you except I don't think there's any real difference between the level Bernard and Iwobi are at. Also Iwobi is nothing like Bolasie. Completely different set of problems.

Need to still bring in money through sales to ensure we can spend a wad.

Keane £20-25 million
Iwobi £18-20 million
Kenny: £8-10 million

If we can get atleast that done then it gives us some more flexibility with FFP and also some cash to reinvest.

Selling Bernard and bringing in Ryan Fraser on a free would be good business.

He's a little goblin man Fraser, but a decent player would like to see if he could push on here. Used to playing 442 as well.

It would be a shame to see Bernard go but he's on massive wages and given that we got him on a free it's a good for us FFP wise.
