Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I think Hamez is a wonderful player, but hes very injury prone and buying him to play on the wing is a horrific idea.

I watched Grealish a few times this season, some games he was head and shoulders above everybody, some games he went utterly AWOL, im not sure hes worth 60m and for me we need somebody less lazy on the defensive side.

But to state again, I think both players are wonderfully talented, just not quite worth the outlay needed to acquire.

I think it boils down to what Grealish will do as he gets older. He is clearly a talent and has improved his game alot since Villa were last in the top flight.

We lack a midfielder who can take complete control of a game. I had hoped Davies would develop into that player, but he just hasn't kicked on since he burst onto the first team scene.

I think this might be the thing that makes me go crazy the quickest that our supporters always talk about. First off Grealish works hard, he's poor defensively because he's an attacker, but the effort is there. Secondly who gives an actual when we have a half decent creative player role through the club once every 5 years whether or not the sucker can defend?

If Grealish is actually a possibility for us, and the price they want is 60m prior to any negotiation, we really should be all over that.

I wouldnt object to Hamez or Drunken Jack, but I have doubts, thats all.

And we need somebody who defends cos we want Lovely Luca getting forward, buy somebody lazy for the right hand side and buy a defensive RB by all means.

I love Lucas but I'd gladly hamper his creative output if it meant having a real creative player in the attacking midfield role. He offers a lot more than just crossing anyway.

He's actually gone dramatically backwards. Hope Ancelotti sees him for what he is and gets him gone ASAP.

I know I’m in the minority of 1 here but I still think Iwobi will come good for us.

He’s been written off far too early here, probably as he was written off as not good enough before he signed but he’s still quite a young lad with a lot of attributes of a good footballer.

I personally think he’ll surprise a few this season.

I've written iwobi off because I saw him way too much at arsenal. Every time I saw his name on the arsenal team sheet instead of ozil or lacazette or Ramsey, I had no idea what arsenal were playing at, I cursed them... Then we went and paid an astonishingly high fee for him, it was absurd.

It depends on what we make our system. He's never going to succeed in a 4-4-2. He's a passing player who needs options to link with. The one or two times we did that this year he was genuinely excellent but it doesn't suit our team on the whole. When we push him wide with a fullback and nothing else as support it won't work.

It's not good that he's such a rigid player, but it doesn't mean he's terrible either. It just takes the right situation.

People that don't rate Bernard are the same people who thought we were "spreading the goals around" by signing Sigurdsson and Klaassen.

Are they?

I was one of the few that wasn't absolutely creaming their kecks when Moshiri sold Lukaku in order to bring in Klaassen and Sigurdsson. Mind you, it's not that I don't rate Bernard, I just acknowledge that his PL record is worse than Ryan Fraser's.
