Also a loan for a season first then we can think about paying that after seeing how he's got on

Exactly, loans are always useful for players from foreign leagues imo, like we did with gomes. You see most of the top 6 dip into the loan market every now and then, it's a good route to use.

@Zatara thoughts on Silva sir?

If we bring Silva in and hes here 2 seasons then thats enough time for Gibson/Branthwaite to (hopefully) come through...also allows us to allocate transfer fees elsewhere.

Keane has 2 years left on his deal. His book value is about £15mil now + wages.

If we can sell Keane and sign Gabriel + Silva with Mina and Holgate already there thats a top 4 defence.

Id be thrilled if we could pull these 2 deals off and sell Keane.

I don't know why people keep talking as if Michael Keane is being sold or is even for sale.
I have not seen a single suggestion from anywhere to suggest the manager would like to move him on... other than on here which doesn't count.

I think people want hom to go, so some confirmation bias, but also if we bring one in, it would make sense to move one on-although perhaps not as we only have 3 cb's to begin with and Holgate is versatile.

A lot with Keane depends upon his partner and how you play. I mean people seem to assume we want to push high up the pitch. Maybe we move from that?

Italians like defending probably even more than attacking and do it very well.
In the longer term I think CA will first try to build a solid defensive unit and then work from there.
Defending high up the pitch doesn't really suit Michael Keane.. or most defenders.
Liverpool love playing against teams that defend high up the pitch , it leaves so much space to run into when counter attacking.
I think you defend deep and keep everybody in front of you.

I would have thought that we would have seen the return of sweepers by now to counteract the attacking pace of players these days.

Not a fan of that, realise he doesn’t want to put a big move for himself at risk, but leaving a team he’s been with since they were in League One in the middle of a relegation battle, during a season he’s admitted to not a playing for the team isn’t on
