The ex Newcastle player? Seems risky?
Don't think that affects anything, only played 3 league games there when he was a teenager. Now he's an international with Champions League experience. Good, strong defender and got the speed to overlap our RM and provide width. Although he's still got 3 years left on his contract so he wouldn't be a cheap option.

I think Mcginn would be a good signing for centre midfield, good passing %, gets shots off, good tackler, and would offer some legs along side Gomes. I know it's not the glamour name some on here want but for me it's about getting the right player in, the Rabiots and Allans of this world are not that imo.

Villa would probably want a big fee for him as well? Was highly rated before his injury.

Seems to be just getting mins here and there as he comes back from injury.

Havent noticed him before (or probably not even seen him). We do know that Brands looks at Germany with the Gbamin signing.

You think hes a better option than Aarons or Emerson?

Two things for me:

1. we need at minimum 4 in (CM, LW/RW, CB & RB)

2. Ancelotti should have the main input not Brands.

It would make sense for us to target ex Carlo players this window solely as they can bed into the system alot quicker and know what he expects.

The likes of Allan, Rodriguez etc.

Having some these players as squad or rotation options wouldn't be an issue if we had an actual eleven of quality and Davies, Walcott or Delph didn't have to start most of the time. As it is there is a massive hole in the middle of the park. Gomes is the only one offering any quality on the ball but he can't get around the park , the wingers don't produce much and Davies is all energy but very little quality. We need much better.
Agree wholeheartedly. The problem, as it seems to me anyway, is getting the quality in whilst complying with the homegrown regulations within our budget. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the rumours are agent/paper talk but, if there is some truth to them, we haven't been linked to any homegrown incomings and we have had murmurs of people like Pickford potentially being sold (and no noises about contract renewals for Keane, for example, who has two years left on his deal). We don't want to be in a position where we can't buy international players because there is no room in the squad and we really don't want to have to name a squad of 22 players, for example, because we have to leave empty spaces as a consequence of having too few homegrown players (is it still 4 + 4, btw?).

Well it will depend on if they go down or not (same with Grealish) Villa have quite a large squad and will have to get rid of quite a few players if they get relegated, i don't know how much of a position they will be in to negotiate tbh. Dream scenario for me mate is we would sign Grealish and Mcginn in a double deal (never going to happen i know)

Well, they've just gone 1 down against Wolves!

IMO yeah, he’s ideal, although would be made up if we got Aarons and he’s still young so he’s only going to improve. I’m not convinced by Emerson.

Havent seen enough of McGinn. Really cant see Ancelotti sticking with Gomes in a 442 and think he'll want to replace him.

Wolves are so far ahead of us footballing wise its frightening...

Very pedestrian today against a team with one star and a lot of rubbish.

Were probably 4 or 5 starters behind them though.

Aarons just turned 20 in Jan and Emerson is 12months older. Surprised youre not on the Emerson train, my feeling is that he (and Gabriel) will be fixtures in the Brazil side for many years.

Emerson would actually be my first choice, i think hes potentially world class.
