Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

Reading through this thread there seems to be a general trend of wanting rid of Pickford, Keane, Davies and Delph. While I understand all of those calls in isolation, most suggestions for replacements are players from other leagues and other nations. As far as I can tell this would leave us with very few homegrown players which would limit our ability to buy international replacements in the first place.

Pfft, at goodison, i think they've scored 1 jammy last minute rebound in the last 5 years there, hardly anything to shout home about, we've been finishing mid table in all of those seasons because it's not consistent, hence why we conceded 5 against their average attack
Exactly this. People talking about it as if Ancelotti came up with some sort of never seen before tactical master class and Keane has turned into a different player overnight. We sat deep and got everybody behind the ball, we’ve done it Against good sides a hundred times before. Hopefully we’ll progress beyond that at some point.

bit silly isn't it? i'd want keane gone because i don't think he's good enough, but for the following season he can be a backup defender which will be okay. Davies is like 5th choice centre mid and delph is a decent backup. They're all decent enough squad players and pickford is about as good as what we can attract at GK.
We have about 10 players who are utter deadwood that need to be offloaded who contribute nothing, we're not going to sell 5 or 6 players who actually start as well and as you say, fill our home grown quota. The selection pool for english players is getting worse season by season, so it's paramount we try and maintain the ones we've produced.

Having some these players as squad or rotation options wouldn't be an issue if we had an actual eleven of quality and Davies, Walcott or Delph didn't have to start most of the time. As it is there is a massive hole in the middle of the park. Gomes is the only one offering any quality on the ball but he can't get around the park , the wingers don't produce much and Davies is all energy but very little quality. We need much better.

Couple of key key positions to fill with genuine quality and we will be sound next season. 3 positions are key for me, RB, center mid and right wing. The fact we can actually defend balls into our box and set pieces under Carlo will bag us another 10 points at least next season.

Our midfield is badly dross but if (and big if) Gbamin can get fit and stay fit he does look like the mobile combative player we are missing. Davies and Delph, what do you say about them? Davies needs games and if hes going to get games for us we are going to drop points, think he will be played a lot till the end of the season then Carlo will either keep him on if he improves or loan him at the end of the season. Delph looks like a complete waste of time, talks the talk but doesnt walk the walk from what hes shown this season. Sigurdsson needs shifting on, big wages and too limited in what/where he can play.

Already a good result letting some high earning tripe out the door. We need to invest properly this summer though, under Brands and Ancelloti, honestly if they cant get it right then I think we all turn the lights off and just pretend football doesnt exist anymore.

Bit of a random one, what about Grealish in centre midfield?

We would still need a defensive minded player in there but I wonder if he would be interesting there.

Yeah i think that may well be the case. Of course the two names weve been linked with at RB have been Aarons and Emerson and i expect one of them or someone similar to be signed.

However, lets not discount the Todibo links which may suit that hybrid type role, also Stones or even Kenny may suit that more than at typical RB or CB positions

Any players you fancy at RB or the hybrid?
Big fan of Mbabu at Wolfsburg - think he'd slot in very well for us, got a bit of everything we're looking for there imo

We would have to sell a couple kidneys and chop off our arm and leg for that fee. I would fancy him if he would a CAM

He's good but would cost alot. Bissouma would be a cheaper option of players from potential teams going down.

The ex Newcastle player? Seems risky?

Was just comparing him to Gomes, different league of player.

I think Mcginn would be a good signing for centre midfield, good passing %, gets shots off, good tackler, and would offer some legs along side Gomes. I know it's not the glamour name some on here want but for me it's about getting the right player in, the Rabiots and Allans of this world are not that imo.
