Wolves are so far ahead of us footballing wise its frightening...
Had the same system for years under the same manager and got players that fit into it really well (with a lot of help from the most powerful football agent in the business mind you). Hopefully we can replicate it now we’ve got a manager like Carlo and can build a proper side.

At the moment we’ve just got an amalgamation of players who were bought for different systems and styles.

Oh yes I know why it's just poor how much we have spent yet teams like Wolves and Leicester look more well equipped than us...

Two things for me:

1. we need at minimum 4 in (CM, LW/RW, CB & RB)

2. Ancelotti should have the main input not Brands.

It would make sense for us to target ex Carlo players this window solely as they can bed into the system alot quicker and know what he expects.

The likes of Allan, Rodriguez etc.

Id be quite disappointed if we made signings over 25. Im keen to see Ancelotti and Brands build a side for the long term.

You cant just give Ancelotti carte blanche. He needs to tell Brands what and who he wants and Brands needs to supply him with a list of players which then Ancelotti puts in order e.g 1st, 2nd choice etc for each position.

Then brands works his way down the list.

The 2 main signings id like are Emerson and Gabriel. The midfield im not too sure on.

Agree wholeheartedly. The problem, as it seems to me anyway, is getting the quality in whilst complying with the homegrown regulations within our budget. I'm pretty sure that a lot of the rumours are agent/paper talk but, if there is some truth to them, we haven't been linked to any homegrown incomings and we have had murmurs of people like Pickford potentially being sold (and no noises about contract renewals for Keane, for example, who has two years left on his deal). We don't want to be in a position where we can't buy international players because there is no room in the squad and we really don't want to have to name a squad of 22 players, for example, because we have to leave empty spaces as a consequence of having too few homegrown players (is it still 4 + 4, btw?).

Very interesting with Keane and Bernard with 2 years left each.

Tbh mate im sick of signing players "for the future".

We are falling further and further behind not just the likes of the top 6 but also Wolves and Leicester.

Im not saying we need a quick fix but we need a mixture of proven players ready for now with the odd young player for the future picked up.

We have to have nearly ready made in midfield especially and if they are young they need to be able to contribute from the off... agree we have fallen well behind despite having spent 100s of millions.

Yeah for me we need atleast 3 signings across the midfield - 2 CM's and a RW with Bernard sold and Iwobi out on the left for a season to see if he can make it out wide or not.

Even if it means giving Keane/Holgate a go at CB for a season with a 4th choice on loan as cheap cover if funds are tight those 3 positions + a RB are drastically needed.

Well you named James, 29 next month and Allan who will hit 30 over next season. Id say they are the definition of high risk quick fix attempts.

The wages would also be insane at a time when we need to lower the wage bill.

For me, i reckon we'll be going with something similar to this (which will probably change over the rest of the next games lol )

Pickford
??? Holgate ??? Digne
Iwobi ??? ??? ???
DCL Richarlison
So basically the same/similar 5 positions everyone else is saying.

We'll need to raise funds from punting deadwood and probably the likes of almost anyone else not named above.

My opinion is quite simple really, I think if we can land Gabriel for anything like £20-25mil and Emerson for £15-17.5mil weve basically 'completed' GK/DF/FW areas.

Circa £40mil and were sorted everywhere but midfield which we will need to obviously strengthen.

Gabriel hitting passes and Emerson down the line like a train also opens up more attacking avenues from deep.

Its all about bringing in young u25 players with top quality potential which Ancelotti can develop into a winning machine.

I can't see more than 4 coming in mate and even then I imagine one of those will be a loan/free type signing.

I think Iwobi is naturally more left sided so for me selling Bernard would help massively with FFP and getting his huge wages off the books - stick Iwobi out left for the season and see if he can cut the mustard or not.

at the minimum we need:

1x LW or RW
2x CM
1x RB

If funds are left bring in a CB but maybe Keane might convince Carlo to stick with him and Holgate if they continue to do well in the current system?
