The really high end players will probably largely retain their value but it is likely we will see far fewer of these really big deals.

I think the rest of the market may be reset with buying clubs withdrawing from agreed deals and waiting to see if prices do come down.
To use Gabriel as an example , he looks to have potential but it would still b a substantial risk as bringing any player of this type is, but the fee previously mentioned means that buying clubs won't pay and can't afford to pay so much on potential.

A player like Thiago Silva, even if it didn't work out very well, is still going to be relatively short compared to the much longer deals of Sandro, Besic, Bolasie, Niasse etc.

Think this just fuelled the fire to be honest, we were linked with him again after this, because of the Brands connection and Ancelotti. I wouldn't be surprised if this was posturing from Gatusso, trying to show the player up, force him into a move. It could also be thay the player already has a move lined up, doesn't want to get injured and jepordise it. Man utd are supposed to be interested too.
