Buendia’s level is the Championship as he proved with aplomb last season. In terms of ability and quality he’s not fit to lace Bernard’s boots, and as for being a backup for James just lol

He had more creative output in his one PL season than Bernard has had in two.

Yes for sure, other than Hamez we have nobody else who can play there, comfortably, or rather we have nobody who has played there for any real period of time, from what I can see.

But for me its the same up top, which is why I would prefer somebody like Josh King, who can play all across the front.

Now granted even Josh King hasn't played RW much either, but he solves our issues more than somebody who only really plays 1 position.

Yes that makes a lot of sense and is the advantage of King-versatility. If you wanted some more specialist cover though, and a creative left footed player comfortable primarily on the right, Buendia offers that.

He's played a few times there, and if Ancelotti wanted to mirror what we do on the left on the right, he feels a good fit. If he wants the more lob sided solution, maybe less so?

Cant see us signing anyone until next summer unless we have an injury crisis up top coming into January.

Sadly I think the big galoot will be our back up to DCL.

That Behrama looks tasty on either wide position though.

I always think Richy is ineffective from the right. Yeah he can do okay but he's nowhere near the threat he is down the middle or from the left.

No way Tosun drops down a league. He'll go somewhere in Jan after he's recovered from injury.

As has already been said forget about getting a like for like replacement for a player like James. Never happening.

It’ll be a case of either changing the shape or or putting someone out there who can play as a more traditional RW forward.

We sadly don't have a massive pool currently.

Buendia would cost little, have low wages, has some track record of performing in the PL (he was tied for 11th most assists last year in by far the worst team of those that high up) and is fairly young. It is essentially risk free and his ability to play the RW in a somewhat similar manner to James (obviously not as good) is potentially very useful.

The problem of course is we are too stocked in this position already.

Ryan Fraser was near the top of the assists the season before. And I would guess Norwich would be looking for at least 20mil

We have only been tenuously linked, but you have to think that we are inquiring with Watford on Sarr. We have absolutely no speed outside of DCL, Rich and Gordon. Throw in a loan offer with either a higher than normal loan fee or a slightly over market buy option and hope he forces a move. Personally I think United won't go back in, so if Watford are open to that type of deal I could it happening. Not sure Watford have much incentive for that, but worth a shot.

Move Besic, Bolasie and Lossl on loan (even with subsidized wages) and we'll have paid for the loan.
