Everton transfers that didn't happen

Sissoko was a wierd one as well….basically ghosted us in TDD, and then Moshiri came out with that statement about McCarthy being one of the family. Brought a tear to my eye

Who was the fella we were in for but ended up with Fellaini? Moutinho?
I think it was Steven Defour we were after at that point then ended up buying Fellaini, I may be totally wrong though!.
I did read somewhere that Moutinho was quite near to being completed and he had technically signed something to join us, was really excited about that at the time. Would have been super for us.

Hirst was a boss player as well. Injuries pretty much did him in but he had a bit of everything.
Didn't he fail a medical with us?

Another one is Mark Hughes. he was set to sign for us apparently, but then Cantona had his famous karate kick at Palace and the deal was off.

Kendall resigned over the Board's refusal to let him sign Dion Dublin from Man U, That would have been some deal.

Yeah we were definitely after Defour around that time, both playing for Standard Liege as well. I remember being gutted we hadn't signed him and didn't know a thing about Fellaini at the point we signed him.

Moutinho was one I was excited over, like many other fans. I remember that Europa League game at home against Sporting, with a daft kick off time (5:15 on a Tuesday I think) and he was obviously playing for them, towards the end of the game, he got subbed and the whole ground gave him a round of applause and I remember a guy sat behind me saying “hopefully the next time we see him here, he’ll be wearing a blue shirt”…

Remember being gutted that Blackburn outbid us for Barry ferguson...
Wuth rangers being my (loose) second team I thought he'd have done well here
