@Eggs if Godfrey is the best centre half at the club then we are in trouble.

He is over rated by the fans but its a thankless task being partnered with that absolute dosser Chewy mc Chewson.

See Michael Keane - his two worst games Utd and Spurs at home - both partnered with Chewy.

He drags everyone at the back down to his level which is WBA.

Dreadful defending from Holgate, & I’m the one who gets all the laughing e-moji’s when I say he’s not a starter in any position. The two CBs are struggling against their front two, I’d be tempted to swap Holgate for Mina.

Fortunately, we’re in this & we carry a threat with some nice stuff in the top third. Iwobi doing ok, we need to tighten up at the back. Stop them scoring and I think we win.

This could honestly be 6/7-1 to Villa.

I'd make all 3 subs at HT but really there's more than 3 that should be brought off.

Davies for Gomes

King for Richarlison or Iwobi, Iwobi is horrendous but anyone trying to kid themselves in to thinking he's been worse than Richarlison in that half needs their head testing.

Mina for Holgate

Some of them should be grateful there isn't more than 3 subs available and even with potential injuries or sendings off i'd still make an example of 3 of them at HT.

So slow is the problem. They have quick players we don't. Bizarrely we could still win it.

It's having midfielders not wanting the ball, when you have defenders who are crap on the ball looking for midfielders who aren't there because they don't want the ball.

It happens all the time and we can all see it doesn't work because we aren't good enough at it yet we still do it.

I think Ancelotti has got this wrong here.

He's instructed to play out, repeatedly - and it's given Villa impetus to step up. They know we're not good enough. It's obvious they could get at Holgate - and there's midfielders like Gomes who hide and don't give the easy ball out for defence.

Also getting concerned how the tempo is always so flat from the off, and how Ancelotti seems to allow so many players to play their own game.

We're all over the shop, no balance, no tempo.

As bad as any Everton performance in years - thankfully a combination of Pickford, luck, and Villa being poor has meant we're not 4 or 5 down.

Nope a normal Everton performance. Slow and slower in midfield , how can you play dynamic football?

But they are.

Mina is better aerially than either of Godfrey or Holgate but importantly would have seen us maybe play a 3 and push Coleman and Digne up the pitch.

Are you seriously suggesting Davies wouldn't have been better defensively than Gomes in that half?
