Did you see how we created absolutely nothing for him in the derby? Just lump it forward with no one within 20 feet so he can do some magic and hold it up somehow and do something, great stuff.

Experience is overrated - Maupay has years worth of experience and is somehow even more atrocious than Simms. He's proven it in about 20 games.
So no solutions but rinse the manager. Good one.

That today is the reason that board should never set foot in Goodison Park again. We have a fit centre forward we win that even with the outright bias of the officials. Var just shows the corruption. Anthony taylor yet again goes on that pitch saying to himself "im giving these nothing" especially at Goodison. That boards decision not to sign a striker is putting the future of the club at risk. Never forget that. They have left us with maupay, a kid in simms and calvert lewin who is in his second season of hardly playing a game. Its beyond a disgrace.

Oh how I dislike Villa. Always a bogey team.

But we outplayed them for large parts, got balls in the box, just no end product (see Maupay, Simms, DCL threads).

We have to beat 3 teams to stay up. Do that and scrape some draws and the odd win at Goodison and we're up.

The only minus in today's performance (aside from our obvious scoring threat for which Thelwell and the Board need to go - not just FL) was we did look vulnerable to counters. But then we were pressing to chase the game.

More sustained effort like that lads and it will fall our way against the bottom half teams.

Villa have some OK players, play to a good formula that suits them and can score. Emery proving himself there, annoyingly.

We have to find a way to score in open play. Simple as that (the issue, not the answer to it).

Doucoure and iwobi are so, so poor with ball at feet. Doucoure does have a purpose beyond offensive contribution but I don't know what iwobi does, is he a defensive asset that I don't notice?

I would go gray instead to give a genuine threat from both wings, and on balance give simms a run of games if DCL is not going to be an option which gives the bench options of maupay and iwobi which still isn't great.

All this aside I go back to they simply have to start scoring from the chances being generated in open play. We can win the 5 we need based on 70% of today if they find goals.

Indeed, very likely gone in two nil at half time if we had functional centre forwards. Was the difference today.

Anyway Dwight man of the match, just a shame other forwards were not at his level today....

Iwobi kin awful.
