I've just watched the match. We were incredibly unlucky to come away with nothing from the game. If it was a penalty for Villa, then we should have had one when Miko was wiped out in their area by Kamara. And the ref was atrocious, but what's new? Both Onana and Doucoure bookings were a joke.

MoM was McNeill, we just needed someone to put the crosses into the net. Having said that the Villa keeper had to make 2 or 3 vital saves to keep them in the game.

Onward and upward boys :pint2:

Imagine my glee, when in an attempt to put yesterday's result out of my mind, I was just scrolling through some FB posts last night and came across us against Villa in the League Cup final replay at Old Trafford back in 1977.
Just no escaping the total abject misery that this current side is subjecting me to

What a team we had though. I was at the 0-0 at Wembley - no ticket to be had - £5 handed to the fella on the gate who let me in. Some great images from those 3 games - Big Bob standing on the fence after he scored in the replay...we all agree....

also it was mcginn who had the ball in the box, not prime kane, maybe just maybe he would not have scored even if he got his shot away, similar to how maupay shot straight at their keeper in the box
Nah mate sorry, this is Everton, if Gana (fairly or no) doesn't tackle him, even if - as they say on MotD - he felt the initial knee on knee contact and was thus on his way down before the foot swept round to get a faint touch...so was entitled to go down you just Know! its Blammo into the top corner.
Not only, but also...
It will come out later that;
A) He hasn't scored for 3 yrs
or
B) That was his first ever goal for anybody anywhere - Ever.

But the key point is...baring 1 in 20...when it needs to, VAR  never looks at our incidents and gives us the benefit of the doubt.
But Always looks when it maybe iffy and pings us.

Also - Last week and this week - we have to learn not to put the crosses too near the keeper.
They have to go into that 'Goldilocks Area' that 'Area of Uncertainty'

Oh and maybe not have just one midget there to attack them.

Their keeper got man of the match which says it all.
A fit and firing Dom plays and we win that game comfortably. If we still have Richie we'd have won that game comfortably.... and despite the managers best efforts to try and not make Doms absence and the lack of signing a striker the narrative, the failure from those at the top has us going into every game with a massive disadvantage.
Dyche has done a great job given what he's inherited and if we can get some sort of consistency upfront then we'll be ok.

Was that not 1980 FAC SF v WHU at Elland Road? Then Lampard senior gutted us all
