Much much much better football, passing movement, modern tactics, squeezing and intensity. Allan looked composed, great runs and picking of space by Richy, Gray and Gordon. A few concerns asking our back three to pass it out but much better, not getting carried away but we looked a better team let off the leash.

Finally was listening to a stream with Efan Ekoku on co comms he hates Everton we were 3-1 up and he was still talking about Brentford gifting is to us. Gave Gordon no credit for the pressing, blamed their keeper when Richy notched, also said we will have another manager whithin a year, unbelievable bias.

We could hardly put a pass together under Benitez, so I don't think there was much stimulus behind the scenes to make those two work together.

Hopefully, Lampard will look at our general passing and an aspect of that will be playing each other in, triangles and movement.
We had no midfield two players in there - it was a useless system ....

Nice win and can have a relaxing Saturday evening for once.
My feelgood factor tempered by thinking I'd rather today had been a league fixture and had banked three points. Maybe the performance and optimism from today means we can be confident of beating them when they rack up again.

Tosun > Iwobi > Townsend for that goal. The three subs!
Used to be a thing even at Chelsea and Derby where Lamps' subs are most often spot on. I remember seeing people say that it begs the question that he picks the wrong starting eleven sometimes. Can't comment too much on that but can definitely say he has a good eye for substitutions.

Obvious improvement :
1. Possession
2. Winning back possession
3. Succeed in playing through the middle
4. Gomes
5. scoring through set pieces
6. Great Subs
7. more composed defense

To improve:
1. Richy - Gray combi

Hopefully Lampard's effect will last long enough than what he had in Chelsea. Cant wait for Tuesday. UTFT COYB

Utd is out. One of Spurs or Brighton will be out, they play each other. Norwich just knocked Wolves out. Southampton is going to extra time with Coventry. Arsenal, Villa, Leeds are out.

Of the 15 sides above us in the PL table at the moment (FFS), 6 are already out, 1 to be knocked out later today, 1 still playing now, 2 more playing tomorrow.

4 Championship or lower sides already through Will definitely be 2 more. Coventry in extra time right now. Norwich is through.

A lot of winnable games in that hat.
Watch us draw City

Amazing what happens when you dont just sit back and instead get on the ball and close them down when we don’t have it.

A good start all in all. Gomez best I’ve seen him for a while . And Gordon looks a real prospect.

I’m a bit weary about getting carried away - we’ve done that after good starts under previous managers only for things to turn sour very quickly - but some good signs today. One thing I am certain of is that under Benitez that would have been a stinking horrible 0-1 defeat with Rondon playing 90 minutes
