Of course it makes sense

At some point we're going to need to know if Zouma and Mina can work as a partnership, because you never know what will happen with injuries/suspensions etc

This is a low risk fixture to try that partnership out, which will give Silva a better idea of his options

It's not desperately important or anything like that, but to say it doesn't make sense is to be deliberately obtuse

I’d be happy to see him stick with Mina & Keane, hopefully be 7-0 up after 60 mins and then bring Zouma on for Keane to get a look at the partnership.

If it finishes 7-7, probably swerve it.

This, we have the derby coming up, this isn't the time to experiment with Zouma and Mina
Whoever Silva is intending to play in the derby should start this match.
Is one match against Cardiff enough to bed that partnership in, probably not.
Keane's only weakness so far is the amount of attacking headers going over the bar.
If he gets this right he could be the hero next week.

On the current debate of CB pairing, Keane and Mina for this one. Cardiff's main threat will be from set-pieces and crosses, they don't have anyone rapid up top so tactically Keane and Mina are the best choice.

Though I would very much bring Zouma back in for the derby. Liverpool have plenty of pace in their front 3 so Zouma's pace will be needed more in that game.

Warnock likes us...

"You look at stats and they’re the hardest working side in the Premier League at the moment. Look at Richarlison up front he’s probably worth double that £45 million. Sigurdsson has had two week’s holiday whereas Aron has been all over the world. Jagielka speaks very highly of the whole club so there’s no reason why they can’t push into the top five over the next few years. They’ve had some lean spells but I’ve got a lot of time for the club - and I’ve always done quite well there as a manager.

I think it’s all down to the manager, he changes things. You don’t do it overnight and while Marco has done well in the league, he’s had relegations in the past. I’ve been in the situation he was in at Watford and it takes your mind off things when people chase you and want you. He seems a nice bloke, he wants his team to do well.

When I see Seamus Coleman bombing on, I like him. He’s my type of player. I don’t think we could afford him but I’ll ask Sol to have a word with him if he wants to come.

The way Everton played against Chelsea, we know how difficult it’s going to be. "

You aren't having Seamus though.

I'd line up as we did at Chelsea with two changes, Lookman in for Walcott and Zouma in for Keane

Nothing against Keane at all, but I'd be intrigued to see how Zouma and Mina would do together and this would be a good chance to try that pairing out

As for Lookman, I think his recent good sub appearances have earned him a start

Zouma is on loan so I would stick. With our CB pairing that will be with us going forward. Mina and Keane for me

You wouldn't give Lookman a go?
I’m just trying to think how Silva is thinking at the moment Mikey. I thought the whole team performed very well at Chelsea, and therefore nobody at the moment deserves to be dropped/rested.

I’ve got a feeling that Silva will indeed drop someone if they deserve it. Certainly Lookman is straining at the leash to get his opportunity and has definitely looked a handful during his fleeting appearances.

His only weakness? Not sure I agree with that. His passing is awful. Those two he put into touch at Chelsea were awful and gave possession back to them so unnecessarily.

I'm not going to batter Walcott (Because I don't think he really deserves it) but I do think he's been iffy enough over the past few games that Silva would be fully justified to drop him and give Lookman a go

His loyalty to Theo is admirable, considering he didn't sign him, and it's not as if I never want to see him play for us again, but I do think Lookman has earned a start with his performances off the bench

Makes more sense to do it now than in the Derby
