had tickets but fate meant I couldn't travel this week but watching from afar at 1 a.m. and listening to the Old Lady rock warmed the cockles. Big kudos to the crowd, that was mighty. One can only imagine what Barry must have thought knowing 'that' was behind him and now he's part of it, no wonder he could barely contain his happiness walking off the pitch at the end of the game

yeah Barry already gets it, watch him be here for the rest of career. superb debut. Ross has got some quick feet, just needs to be a bit sharper when he has a chance to release the ball. still don't think jelly was up to it yesterday, he should have planted that header in the first half, apart from the assist he looked lost which upsets me greatly. gonn be hard for bobby to pick a midfield now with all those options but I'm sure it's a headache he'd love to have. onwards and upwards, glory awaits for those that are determined and boy is bobby determined.

Good morning, I notice Jose came across as a bitter **** in his post match interview. Classless ****.

He didnt though did he?

He was just pissed that his side didnt put away the plethora of chances they had.

Nothing wrong with that. Lets not go crazy here. We deserved something for our efforts but could hardly say we were all over them. They had enough chances to win it three times over.

Anyone else notice after Howard's howler that he reverted to hoof balls for the remainder of the game?

I suppose Lukaku will win some of those balls, but today we simply kept giving back possession with long balls that ended in Chelsea's feet.

Anyway...overall, very happy...maybe we got a little lucky today, but we've had [Poor language removed] all for luck so far this season, so only fair if you ask me. Naismith's effort today should silence many of his critics...he scored a poachers goal and tracked back extremely well. If that's the worst we can produce on the right, I can live with it. Barry looked like he'd been in the team for years...seamless transition and he had an excellent game. Barkley gives me wood...even if he holds the ball too long at times (just re-read that...gonna leave it you sick bastards). Martinez moving Miralles up front showed me two things...Martinez absolutely knows what he is doing, and Miralles need to be up front. He'd been so 'meh' the first 3 1/2 games...as soon as he was up front, Super Kev emerged.

The back four did very well...Baines was virtually invisible going forward though. There was a moment in the game where we were on a mini break...Coleman cut in and passed across the field for Barry...Barry looked left...went forward and Baines never arrived for the overlap...was a moment in the game that stuck with me, as Baines rarely got forward.

We've deserved much better in terms of results so far...good/fair result today.

I think this was tactical, Chelsea were playing very deep and attempting to draw coleman and Baines forward, then hit us on the counter, exploiting the space behind our fullbacks....I reckon Martinez saw through this, and Baines was told to play a more disciplined game...Coleman was probably told this too..but Seamus is Seamus, god bless him.

I've thought for some time that Mirallas should play in the hole behind whoever is up front. He could play the striker role himself, but I think a good option now would be to have Kev and Barkley in behind Lukaku, with whoever out of Peinaar, Naismith and 'Defolu' - can't be bothered looking it up - out wide..

It'll change week on week depending on injuries and suspensions but that's where I'd start. I haven't sacked Jelavic and Kone has a role, but Lakuku is 1st pick right now.

I like Ossie but he does turn it over a lot and we have other options, now. To the bench, Leon.

thought he looked much more dangerous when he was moved centrally, which is his strongest position I think. He started wide left which i think is his least preferred of the front 4 slots. Possibly that had summat to do with it

The team played much better when Mirallas was up front, Jelavic is missing too many chances and giving away too much possession. Martinez has shown loyality and respect starting him for the first four games but we have to give one of the new boys a go now or play Mirallas up there again

Mirallas offers something as a forward I don't think we've had since Rooney. He's full of pace, direct and loves to take on a player. Hopefully Lukaku can do something similar with a bit of added strength.

Great game! I love it that we beat Chelsea, we were so unlucky against them last season, and they all think they're so fuking special.

Mourinho is such a sore loser, he didn't give us any credit whatsoever, our goal was a mistake, we didn't create and just defended the whole game... What a prick.
You have to give credit where credit is due, yes Chelsea had some good chances but so did we. We played some great stuff, especially the second half but not like you'd know it cos Match of the day never show any of our play

I'm not unhappy with RM's Barcelona style game plan, but I don't see the point of stringing together multiple passes
coming out from the back and keeping possession if we still end up kicking it long with the final pass to the forward line.

The biggest thing we need to perfect is knowing when to play it short and when to just get rid. We will play ourselves into trouble (Howard FFS) if we over pass when the better option might be to knock it long. Having Lukaku up front will make a difference.
