Most of those that you mentioned there (in fact all but 3 of them) have never scored 20 league goals in a season - which is the usual measure when you're talking about a 20 goal striker - otherwise there's too much variation based on games played.

But really all that's irrelevant, because your statement wasn't "DCL isn't good enough to be our long term solution up front", it was "DCL definitely no goals today then" - which was followed by us scoring 2, including 1 by DCL himself.

THAT'S why you shouldn't give up your day job ;)

They haven’t scored 20 goals in the league, cup, league cup and CL?

I was happily wrong mate,he’s not a good player.

Off to NY on Tues, defo won’t be giving up the day job this week anyway! :)

We could have had 5 if we had a main man up front from the start.
When a team as defensively well organized Palace play away it's always going to be difficult to break them down. The fact that they are the only team this season yet to concede from a set piece speaks volumes. It's just a matter of plugging away. On reflection were always going to struggle to score more than one or two goals.

Michael Keane for his tenacity staying up top and keeping it alive for the first goal. Then his assist for Tosun plus winning everything in the air. He looks so much better with someone like Zouma next to him. Mina might struggle to get in

Zouma was the pick, for me. Both CBs played boss but he always looked to get something going from the back.

Gomes looked pure class before he tired, but I’m being cautious; Schneiderlin looked similar at the beginning and, well...

This was the sort of game where fans say we were crap despite how well palace defended in the game.

The major positive is that we kept going and found a breakthrough with positive substitutions.

A good day for Silva and something for us to celebrate. Now if we get a result Vs united......

Jordan Pickord - 7; good reaction for the pen but didn’t have a lot to do
Lucas Digne - 8; truly fantastic fullback, up and down all the time
Kurt Zouma - 8; best game for us, read a lot quite well and looked like a rock
Michael Keane - 8; very strong performance, won everything in the air and the ball for Tosun was brilliant
Seamus Coleman - 5; was very poor, no link up play with Walcott and very sloppy
Andre Gomes - 7; very very calm, good performance considering he’s just returned from injury and has never played in the premier
Idrissa Gana Gueye - 8; was everywhere and pressed really well but good god his distribution is appalling sometimes
Gylfi Sigurdsson - 7; tried a bit, but none of the front 4 did much. Tried a few pot shots and pressed
Theo Walcott - 4; invisible, the only chance he got he fluffed
Richarlison - 6.5; can be a handful and runs his heart out but he was off his usual high standards today
Bernard - 5; real off day, everything went wrong even the basics

Spot on.

We all know we’ll probably get nothing v Utd but this has to be the most confident we’ve rolled up against them for a while. I just pray we give them a good game at the very least; it’d crush momentum for us to go and roll over, Moyes style.
