I asked the very same question yesterday. Apparently, it's the name for tactic of two ranks of rigid four playing deep to restrict the space for the opposition.

It's a shame that our next game is City where we'll be smashed regardless of whether we play well or not. Usually the players can summon up the courage to show some spirit of 45 minutes or so, but playing ok and still being smashed is going to make the fans mad. And then when we bend over for Liverpool on Saturday it's going to top off one of the worst weeks in years for us.

Its very Everton to lose against a semi relalegated side and then go and take points off a side with one hand firmly on the trophy but I think City might be too much and should cancel out the peculiar force of Everton that. Then again, that's what Everton that wants me to think.

Lack of energy (perhaps understandable); lack of application; lack of attitude; lack of organisation; lack of blend and very slow to change what was obvious from the outset. Thought two of the better players were substituted, Tom Davies my MoM.

Fulham much the better team from the outset, we should’ve exploited the fact it was still 0-0 at half-time.

It’s systematic of our season, if Carlo can’t sort it, what looked a good season will end as a failure.

we get turned over by hard working teams over and over again, it’s a problem now not a blip. 5 at the back was a disaster, yesterday was a disaster, why can’t we just match them for passion and energy?

got what we deserved yesterday, hope the players see this as a wake up call (again).

Couldn't believe Davies got brought off.
I thought the Godfrey signing was to inject pace at the back to allow us to play higher up the pitch but no we camped out on the edge of our own box.

A night to reflect on all that was bad ,I think Carlo might have a weakness that is a big flaw with these players .
It is widely stated that he is not one for too much fitness training and with these lazy B*s it just may be the wrong flaw to have .
I am in no way saying I am not eternally grateful for having him as our manager ,no, I just think that these players are lazy .
As soon as it looks like a sure bet they just go through the motions expecting something they certainly don't deserve .
Also we have too many who are not full fare paying passengers ,I accept James is exceptional but we can only carry one not three or four as is the case too often .
On this tiredness ,I don't agree ,how can they be tired two minutes into the game when it was already obvious what Fulham were doing .

I must confess to feeling a little surprised that there is so much anger and angst around today's result. Today's result was 100% Everton...I expected the abject surrender...it is what Everton is all about. I love the club...but i know that they are losers...and i do not expect anything from them.

Like a wayward child they are...you just love love them regardless of the disappointment.
