Agree, Maupay is the main culprit but Keane, Iwobi, Doucoure, and Gueye all not good enough for a steady PL club. As long as we have all them we will be relegation contenders.

We won`t be getting rid of them all this season... Will we be the big club to go?

As I said, get used to this end of the table....

Bolded part is spot on. Id only keep Doucoure for a season as he has shown last season he can score, press and has energy.

But 5 players out of 11 not good enough.

Was disappointed in Patterson or should it be Dyche? The narrowness of our defending had Fulham scoring a goal and almost 2 others because Patterson found himself in a CB position on all occasions. Not sure if Patterson was under instruction by Dyche to do that but it was suicide

Very different performance than usual from him...kept coming inside like you say.

Garners positioning also weird. Garner needs to be central with onana...

Ratings:

Pickford - 7 - Had nothing to do at all and not at fault for the goal.
Patterson - 1 - Absolutely abject performance, one of the worst full back performances I've had the displeasure of watching. Cowardly in possession and just so slow, negative and woeful in his execution.
Tarkowski - 7 - Nothing to do, no real mistakes.
Keane - 6 - Nothing to do yet still looked capable of costing us in the first half.
Young - 6 - Defensively fine, but nobody to link up with going forward.
Gueye - 5 - Nothing good or bad about his performance.
Onana - 5 - See Gueye.
Doucouré - 4 - Unacceptable to pass up that opportunity he had. No impact on the game aside from that.
Garner - 7 - Think he was our best outfield player but was too often hindered by Patterson destroying anything that was received off him, or Iwobi going short on set pieces then killing the attack dead.
Iwobi - 5 - His usual crap performance where he has no conviction in anything he does. One good sprint in the first half being his highlight.
Maupay - 0 - We all knew it, yet the manager didn't. Any League One striker gets a hat trick from those chances.

Dyche - 0 - Woeful selection, terrible in-game management by leaving it far too late with his subs, then brought an extra stressing attacking player on with a whopping 6 minutes to play. Gave Maupay 70 minutes when he shouldn't have even made it out of tv tunnel after half time. Atrocious start to the season.

Onana was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch 1st half

Why are people surprised though?

One new player started and he was probably the best performer...which was a 38 year old left back.

The rest is the same squad doing the same things and expecting a different result.

Thought we'd get at least a point but as it went on and we missed chance after chance, it was inevitable they'd put one away.

The performance is similar to games Dyche had last season and the same issues are here. We need a striker. We need an attacker. It's getting boring now

One good thing at least is Young has clearly been told to get crosses in early (which is refreshing given Myko is terrible at that) and he showed he can still whip it in nicely towards the six yard box so......

I think Calvert Lewin will get on the end of some of those crosses as season goes on especially if McNeill can get back soon.

However we know the one big obvious problem and another is no way is 38 year old just going to be able to start game after game so when Young can't play then you've got Mykolenko with little attacking quality or just sticking a CB there.

The squad is just terrible for variety and I can't see it changing much in next three weeks as all focus has to be focused on sourcing a decent CF as that's the main hope to staying up.

A very winnable game slips through our fingers, but the last thing you don’t do is lose it.

Dyche picks the team, and the lack of subs, so he has to take the blame.

We need an actual striker, the club hasn’t yet addressed that issue and a 19 year old unknown is most likely not the answer, this season anyway.

DCL can’t be relied upon, and if I’m honest, isn’t the answer long term.

Someone at the club needs to pull their finger out and get us a quality forward this week because with one of those today, we most likely don’t lose and
possibly win comfortably.

Now quick…someone pass me the bleach!!

Yes still fit enough to start and take one of those wasted chances
But also still in a position where he could pick up a further knock. Also how much training had he had with the first team? Would he be ready to start? I think these are things Dyche would have considered and evidently opted against. Dont think it was a bad decision to start him on the bench at the time considering these factors.

Can agree to disagree like. Any other changes to the starting 11?

And that hasn't changed since August 2022

We played well ! Normally we don’t play well unless dcl is on ! Even if we had dcl we wouldn’t have won today as he’s not been prolific recently ! Danjuma didn’t look cool under pressure when he had his offside chance ! We just pop our pants when we get near goal ! Don’t even think this Portuguese lad is a natural finisher ! Go and get Lukaku !

We have known whats needed for two years we will scramble around on deadline day and I have zero confidence we will solve it

Fulham were average as well. Not a good sign. Imagine being told Maupay will be starting the first game a few months ago.

Game 1 forfeited due to again being underprepared for the season. Villa away next up. If they don’t get their finger out this week that’s likely another game down the drain.

Wolves the next home game. We 100% need players over the line before that game. Can’t be throwing away home games to Fulham and Wolves.

Yep it's exactly the same as last season isn't it? I remember people just dismissing the first loss last year as it was "Chelsea" who then went on to lose endless away games and have their worst season since the mid 90s. Bizarrely the first away game was Villa aswell, at least some signings were made and Coady and Onana made their debuts there.

While no team is relegated in August or even September you just don't want to be throwing away winnable games because the team hasn't been strengthened enough otherwise you just get stuck in bottom 6 and atmosphere becomes more toxic for the home games.
