mate we nearly did didn’t we?
we know we need a striker

but score
first and this isn’t all everyone crying
'Nearly' leads to defeat as proved today. Don't get me wrong....we played OK we created chances but when you haven't the personal to finish those chances then the inevitable will happen. We haven't addressed our main problem for a few years and even when DCL is back he is not prolific enough but he does help the team play better. We need a striker that will play more than half a season with just an ounce of nous

I’m so annoyed. The starting line up was pretty deflating to start with. I like a lot of what Dyche has done but it feels like at times there’s a Benitez like stubbornness to him. As if he’s seen the clamour for Branthwaite to play and the frustration fans have with Maupay and thought ‘I’m not doing what fans tell me to do, I’m a premier league manager, I know best.’
I worry he’s being big headed about Calvert-Lewin as well, thinking he’s got some magic gift that means when he comes back he’s going to play 30+ games this season. It’s pie in the sky. The last 2 seasons have shown us he can break down at any time, ‘easing him back’ is just waiting for the inevitable ‘Dom felt something in training so he’s not going to be available for a while.’
No subs until 70 minutes is also not good enough. Needs to be far more proactive. Again, he’ll be well aware that fans are critical of his no subs before 70 minute approach, so he just doubles down and refuses to do any different.
We’ve got a really favourable run of fixtures to start the season. We absolutely can’t afford days like today on a regular basis. Not good enough.
In his defence, he does know more than fans

Their goal was totally avoidable. Tarcowski didn't do enough to stop the cross. I won't judge Pickford till I've seen the goal a few times on tele although the ball came through the 6 yard box and where on earth were Patterson and Garner. But we had enough chances to win 2 games. Maupey is a very poor footballer. Dyche should have changed it after 50 mins. Ref done us over again. If anything the keeper fouls our player. Tarcowski just stands his ground.

We'll end up surviving, get some of these big contracts for crap players off the books and be mid table the season after with a bit of money to compete as we move to BMD.

One more season of pain. Dig in

It was Patterson not blocking the cross. One of the worst performances you could wish to see from him

A very winnable game slips through our fingers, but the last thing you don’t do is lose it.

Dyche picks the team, and the lack of subs, so he has to take the blame.

We need an actual striker, the club hasn’t yet addressed that issue and a 19 year old unknown is most likely not the answer, this season anyway.

DCL can’t be relied upon, and if I’m honest, isn’t the answer long term.

Someone at the club needs to pull their finger out and get us a quality forward this week because with one of those today, we most likely don’t lose and
possibly win comfortably.

Now quick…someone pass me the bleach!!
Today showed they probably don’t even need to be great. Just above average at finishing chances and we’re fine.

That team didnt have much more in them. They honestly tried. They simply don't make the grade for the premier league.

That result is on Dyche and starting Maupay.

He missed a sitter v Fulham last year when he tried to lob the keeper. He missed two more today and Doucoure should have passed to him when clean through but can you blame him for not passing to him.

If Dyche keeps picking Maupay we need to fire him for gross incompetence
