well in blues, 3 points is all that matters in the end, our finishing was poor but we no doubt deserved that in the 2nd half. They had no internationals, where we had 15 and it definitely showed, they could chase everything around, whereas we were a bit lethargic. Apart from jags and distin, everyone played well (howard didn't have a save to make so can't include him).

didn't even get nervous in the last 10, we just controlled easily because we were still going looking for another up until the 94th min, unlike this certain person

#lol

4 points off top having played city and chelsea already, good going blues.

ref was terrible again, not sure how you can book baines for simulation when he wasn't even appealing, sometimes people expect contact so embrace themselves for it and that affects their momentum.

funny how a model pro like baines gets booked for diving when that racist **** across the park wins a pen and a red card and a valuable point for his team by diving because someone touched their shoulder.just had a feeling pienaar would make the difference when he came on, 3 points is all that matters, we would have drawn that game last year for sure.

He did dive, ie make it look worse than it was, but he was pulled back.

Hull played well yesterday and yet we took over in the 2nd half. This is a good sign as in the past this was the kind of match we traditionally get draws in. Hull was also well rested while almost all of our starters were hoofing it around at various places around the world. Yes there were mistakes (there always is) but very pleased with the performance today.

Absolutely agree.

I think we are going to be inconsistent all season. Our back 4 do not like being pressed and they will panic when they are. Thought Barry was working very hard to be an outlet for them but he too was closed down often when dropping to receive the ball. Jags and Distin are basically old fashioned no nonsense footballers who are struggling or too old in the tooth to adapt smoothly. I believe we are still playing the right way and will get more positive results this way. Jags tried the long ball quite a few times and more or less each time we lost possession and this is not what Martinez wants. Our central midfield of Barry and McCarthy is new and with a little more time together and understanding they will become better outlets for Jags and Distin and hopefully this will help us retain possession and build from there and we will see less mistakes. I like our football at the moment and can only see us getting better over the season/s.

Thought hull pressed really well. And think it was more there plan then us being poor. At points when they sat back and didnt press was when we were at our best. But could of been a 4-1 like arsenal or Chelsea if we hadn't missed a chance or 2 after our 1st goal or late on. Basically hulls heads didnt drop like a lot of other teams do or have done. But saying that once we went 2-1 up was completely adamant that we were fine after that. Bar set peaces they didn't trouble us much

What did Pienaar do after he scored? I saw him run into the Park End but didn't see what he did once there.
Turn the south afican flag the right way up,after someone had stuck it up side down, good to see him back just in time to face what seem's to be his favourite team he usually score's v next week as in Aston villa

Next two games could tell us a lot about where we will finish the season. A tricky away game at Villa is a tough one but a game you need to be winning if you want to push the top sides and followed by Spurs at home, again tough game but you want to beat them at home to finish above them.

Can't disagree with that. Bruce has got them well organised and Huddlestone was a good buy for them. They harried us for 90 minutes but our extra class won us the game. Hull will give a lot of teams problems this season, I'mhappy with the 3 points. Shame about Kone's miss, he needs a goal to get him started.

At least Kone looked composed when his came on. He had a presence and looked sharp. Even if he missed that chance, hitting the post, he didn't just swing at it in panic. Still think he's at his best feeding on loose balls in a crowded opposition's box to get his goals. Wasn't thrilled about his signing, but think he'll do ok, I hope he surprises a few people.

Got a few concerns about cohesion of some of the players adapting to how Martinez wants to play; unsure if they can (Jags?). It's tiring on the whole team and leaves vulnerabilities when just one or two players are struggling with it.

Although no way could Martinez just evolve Moye's system gradually over time, into his own. It's not his football philosophy. He had to be true to himself immediately, whatever the vulnerabilities with some players adapting to it.

As some one said; A potential banana skin avoided ( they all are tbh ).
Not the best game ( i hope ) we will see all season but 3pts in the bag.

I'm all for 'Without Fear' but this passing it out from the back...and NO exceptions, is slowly morphing into fannying around and the football equivalent of russian roulette.

Bobby don't get sucked into the Moist scenario of Plan A ( no plan B ) I am right at all times, my way or the highway ( oh and btw there's no highway option ) thinking.

Jags and Distin don't seem happy with it and it seems to be affecting them in the confidence dept with relation to their core defensive duties...I want to hide behind the couch at every corner and free kick and the upside down fellaini faced keeper does not inspire too much confidence either....just sayin like.
Don't know about that mate. Saw Howard punt it long a fair few times. Including Pienaar's goal.

...off topic, but just watched Arsenal vs Norwich...wow...

They might just win the league, and would be the team most deserving of it.

Sad state of affairs though that it took a 50 mil Man City, Chelsea-esque signing to finally make Wengers team get results.

Not sure I agree with it being a sad state of affairs - the brilliant Arsenal sides were built around players like Bergkamp who at the time was the most expensive foreign import to this country.

People often claim Ferguson ''did it the right way'', forgetting that he paid 30m for Rio Ferdinand in 2002 ( a sum still massive now but astronomical over a decade ago).

Since the advent of the Premier League, it has been impossible to win the league without monster signings. Ozil is just an extension of that. He's just a leap forward in quality that has dragged the whole side with him - Arteta did the same for us (not the same global extent of course)
