EVERTON V LEICESTER CITY: FA CUP 3RD ROUND (SAT 7 JANUARY 2017 3PM)

Well if that wasn't the most Everton thing in the world then I don't know what is.

After such a seemingly positive week, starting with the drubbing of the South Coast Biffs and ending with Usmanov seemingly joining the Walton Globetrotters, then crashing out at home to another set of droogs in the third round of the cup should surely be expected? Yet for some reason it still stings.

Everton. Robles, Coleman, Holgate, Williams, RFM, Baines, Barkley, Davies, Barry, Lukaku, Valencia

Leicester. Schmeichel, Simpson , Huth, Morgan, Chilwell, Albrighton, Mendy, N'didi, Drinkwater, Gray, Ulloa

Leicester seemed happy to sit back and let us have the ball, then looked to use either Demarai Gray on the break or Ulloa to hold it up before building. Whilst we seemingly were happy to pass and probe and probably should have scored with Lukaku missing two decent chances in the first half.

Gray then set of on a sprint that took him spinning past Funes-Mori, Robles had to make a decent save to keep it out. In truth Mori's afternoon was only going to get worse, as if he thought Gray was quick......

HT came and Deulofeu was brought on for the first time in about a year and Seamus Coleman retreating to his natural position at right back.

All of a sudden we looked more threatening, as Geri appeared to want to take his chance. Everton took the lead when Deulofeu raced past Ben Chilwell and supplied Lukaku with an easy tap-in for the opener. Although just three minutes later, the scores were level when Gray rinsed Coleman before crossing. Musa (Subbed for Ulloa) was allowed two bites at the cherry before equalising.

His second goal tbf was a cracker, although the less said about our "defending" the better. We then brought Kone on for some reason and took Barkley off and with that Leicester were through to the fourth round.

Another early cup exit Blues, and our only hope of anything decent relies on the top 6 winning both cups and us staying in 7th. Hopefully this rum mentality will be eradicated over the coming months/years. I am sure good times are around the corner as god knows we deserve some, hopefully with some clear backroom direction it can get rid of most of the cowards we see every week. Then maybe, just maybe we can start to look for a little more than scraping into the Europa on a technicality.

Up the Blues!
Mate you forgot to do the MOTM poll lol

Actually last game I reported on I also refused to do one too they were that bad.

So you think they're good? Our fans are crap because they are negative constantly, sit there in silence, today was silent in a cup we should try and win, boo / groan at almost every mistake, sarcastically cheering Howard last season, Cleverley getting subbed this season.

If you think our fans are good then you either don't go or are lying to yourself!
I think a lot of the negativity from our fans is born out of frustration. There can't be many fans over the years that have suffered as much as we have. However that does not condone the 'treatment' dished out to certain players of our club which is frankly embarrassing. As with regard the atmosphere, it's a two way thing. Team plays well the crowd are supportive. Poor displays like today, is it any wonder the crowd are lethargic and subdued? Look at the Derby, the crowd gave everything they had to try and lift the team and how where they rewarded? With possibly one of the worst second half displays in recent memory.

Today underlined the issues we have, its not a lack of commitment it's an ageing team which is wary of pace and once we had scored Leicester came out and became on the front foot - older players are wary of pace and drop deeper and this created gaps all over the park, exposing the midfield and Barry in particular. There will be more days like this until younger legs are introduced.

Think the problem is also expectation, we expect to just beat Leceister at home etc so just sit there waiting for us to win/score but it doesn't always happen like that as we know

Mate, are you 12?

Anyway, are you standing up & flag-waving for 90 mins are you mate, starting the singin' an' all that, one of the boys etc...?

Cool.

But here's a suggestion mate...stop going the game. Just don't go then you won't get so teary over the people you sit near for not starting a Mexican wave with ya every time Tom Cleverly falls over. I wouldn't wanna sit with 'crap' if that's how I felt...

And mate, today, the most vocal person near to me chatted such appalling wham & bubbles throughout the game - (out loud like, very loud, in an attempt to be heard and laughed at) - that i was half tempted to stuff a Twix up his nose just to shut him up....I found the atmos a tad subdued today, yes, understandable really given the result and the way it was forming to go. But I'm not gonna come on here and go 'Yes, all fans are crap (except me, naturally) because I've got a klacker...' or whatever because, simply and as fact, it's just not true is it?

Granted, there are bulbs in every crowd butdon't apply your vitriol to everyone larrrrr...if you're not pogo-ing and 'singing' it doesn't mean you're not arsed...it might just mean you're watchin the game.

Or you're in ya 40's and are just tired with the same old shiz on repeat.

That's my excuse anyway.

I'm 23 years old now, seen us do absolutely nothing my entire life. I'll be at least 25 the time we win anything.

When is it going to change?

Same as me lad. Not much fun.

Sadly I think our team went out with the same mindset today and many other games. I honestly think some of them think they are actually better than they are. For 3 years many of them were lauded as the near 8th wonder of the world by Martinez. Fast forward to koeman, who is total opposite and has openly criticised the team and in the case of Barkley - individually. Neither has been able to get the best out of those players, I guess the best way to manage their egos, is somewhere in between.

Tbf Koemans been here a grand total of 4 months or something. Remember the first four months of Bobbys campaign. We were second or third I think. Look how that ended up?

These aren't even Koemans players in his defence. Let's give him more than half a season before judging whether his managerial style works or not.

Or replace the players who you feel can not do the job you, the manager, want.
I suspect Koeman will use this result to be ruthless now. It wouldn't surprise me to see Barkley sold now

Not reading all that

I thought first half we edged it. Second half we made a cup tie substitution, sacrificing Holgate for Deulofeu. It worked, but helped them get their equaliser, swings n roundabouts . Disappointing they held the initiative afterwards and got a well worked winner. It also illustrated the paucity of our squad when we had to call on Kone. At least it saves me money on F.A. Cup tickets this season.

I would like the owners to be as ruthless/toothless as Koeman. Get rid.

One of the things we liked about Koeman initially was his honesty. After years of hearing Martinez spout rubbish, it was refreshing to hear Koeman 'tell us as it is'. However even he has admitted recently his open criticism of Barkley was maybe wrong, for when questioned about Barkley in a recent press conference, he admitted to being too honest in the past and wouldn't answer the question directly. I will give Koeman time and with the players he wants in the team as I genuinely believe he is the man to take us forward, someone I wanted to take over from Martinez as long ago as last new year.

Well jackboy you made that sound simple............................................................for Leicester!

On the bright side, we can't get knocked out in the 4th round by some Championship side. Just saying :zzz:
