Well. Like a few others on here, I felt like a kid before Christmas all week. However, instead of getting all the toys I'd hoped for, Father Christmas pulled down my pyjamas and bummed me senseless. Then my mum and dad told me I was adopted and sent me to a boarding school where the older kids kick fcuk out of me and the teachers hate me. [Poor language removed].

The better team won.

The really sad thing is that even the better team was very MEDIOCRE. They didn't even deserve to win the Carling Cup Final. Marginally the better of two MEDIOCRE sides on that day (just like today in fact), but an HORRENDOUS and INEPT penalty shoot-out. Yet they won. As Hibbosculturedrightboot said, they seem to have a pact with the Devil, and they get the breaks when they don't deserve them. This has been the case since the days of Shankly who, lets face it, was a brilliant manager who we would have been proud of.

What really irks me is that with either Royston Drenthe or Stephen Pienaar on the field we might well have beaten such a mediocre opposition. But maybe that pact with the Devil conspired against us.

MESSAGE TO MOYES: WHO DARES, WINS. If you're ever going to follow in the footsteps of Sad Angry F- sorry, Sir Alex Ferguson, you need to learn this. Because right now, for all your other qualities, you're never going to match him. But experience suggests you're really not willing to learn.

I've been saying for the last three seasons (before i joined this forum) that Moyes is too defensive minded. That is not, imho, the sign of Greatness. And it has shown all season, with the exception of one or two matches. Time to step up to the plate, David, in the remaining games of the season - you're fighting for your future career as well as the pride of Everton, imo.

It's all too easy to blame Distin. It was an horrendous mistake, but everyone makes mistakes; the trouble is, fickle fans only remember the mistakes. Sylvain Distin has been immense for us all season, let's not forget how many points he has earned us. (The same goes for Tim Howard, a guy who's had a lot of flack on this forum in recent months, but who overall has, imo, also been immense for us, not just this season but every season).

If the rest of the guys had played to their potential we'd have won that game regardless of Distin's error.

Ultimately though, there's not enough depth of quality in the squad, and that's down to funding. So once again: Come In Mr. Kenwright, And Your Board, Your Time Is Up. Your dreams of taking the Club to glory are over. It was a nice dream, no doubt, but dreams don't always come true. If you really are a True Blue then sell up. But then, it's not likely you're going to find a buyer before what quality we still have disintegrates, is it, because you've been trying for.... HOW many years?????????

A bit of an irony really: someone posted early on in this thread about RS going into meltdown if we beat them. As it stands, i think there's a danger of US going into meltdown. Some of the players (e.g. Johnny, and Stephen) must be seriously doubting their chances of winning silverware with this Club under current management.

We need to change. The Board needs to change, as in: SELL UP. The manager needs to change, or get out.

The players on the pitch bottled it today. But they can only take a part of the blame.
