Not too down really, we gave them a better game than Chelsea did, they are going to steam roller teams this season and have it over by half time, we play like that today against half the Premier League and we will take points from them.

That's it really. We played well ( apart from Howard giving the two goals) and will do Ok against lesser teams like the RS and Utd..........

Man for man, City just have better players than us. But we held our own comfortably for most of the match.
To me, the glaring difference between their attacks and ours is that when the ball goes to Aguero, his first touch puts it where he wants and he uses that to find a little bit of space, whether it is to turn a defender or to kill it stone dead so he can look up. Lukaku as we all know has a very poor first touch so has to run 3 or 4 yards away from goal for his second touch and the defender is now in the better position. He really needs to work on that as it costs us a lot of momentum going forward.

I take it as a compliment though that City were timewasting from the 70 minute mark - they knew we were still threatening them.

I thought both sides were pretty sloppy today. Cleverley should have defended rather than stopping to appeal and Howard shouldn't have been beaten at his near post.

It surprised me that Roberto left Galloway/Browning so exposed. I'd have expected him to switch Cleverley to the left to help him out.

Deulofeu looked really rusty, which makes me wonder how unfit Mirallas is. I'd have thought, once Sterling went off, Martinez would have taken the shackles off and thrown a winger on.

Our midfield sat off too deep and left Lukaku isolated.

Good analysis on MOTD by Keown of how our defence was disjointed in shape. Holding a proper line could have prevented both goals. Still convinced that it isn't worked on enough in training.

Howard was the difference. Getting beaten on his near post like that. FFS. Keystone Cops goalie this feller has deteriorated into.

I think I'd be doing all I could to bin this feller and get a decent GK in. He's a liability.

We prevent both goals If Howard wasn't such a cockwomble and McCarthy could be arsed to track his runner

Or if Jags had held his line with Stones for the 1st and Stones had done the same when Toure chipped it through to Nasri. Then it's offside and what happens after is irrelevant.

You can't expect them to be perfect shape all the time, you should however be expecting your keeper not to be beat at the near post or for a simple run to be followed

City's defence held it's line and snuffed out our chances, so I don't see why we shouldn't expect ours to do the same.
