We played well all game in general, but were up against a team that has gone up a level since last season. City controlled the first 20 mins of the 1st half and the first 10 mins of the 2nd half....the rest we were very much in it. Everyone put in a shift especially Coleman, Barry, Rom and Cleverley. McCarthy looked anonymous but he had the task of keeping YaYa quiet, which in truth he did a fair job of. Silva was exceptional, almost Bergkamp-esque which is a huge compliment....you simply have to applaud that some times and say what a fantastic game he had....he controlled it.
Biggest plus for me today was Barkleys contribution....looks like he's learned a few harsh lessons last season and hopefully will reach his potential as we all expected.
You summed us up mate. Not to worried, that City side ripped Chelsea apart last week, if,hopefully, we keep playing like we did for the first 55mins dont think we will far away from top four

A lot of Everton's passes were underweighted resulting in our too often turning over possession. McCarthy and Lukaku's close ball control was poor. Our left seemed to provide acres of space for City to run down/get in behind us. But all that aside I thought the game was a very good watch. City's headspace seems to be up for it this season and combined with their athletic football talents, the odds on them winning the League would have to be pretty short.
As others have referenced, Spurs this week is more relevant to our ultimate table position. Unfortunately, Pocettino seems to always get his team up for our visit. But we travel with hope...

Thought we matched them brilliantly today, bad errors from Howard genally the difference. The gap in quality showed when the likes of Naismith came on.

Make no mistake City are Prob going to win the league and they didn't get out with an easy three points. Positive for me.

Barkley, Coleman, Jags and Stones were terrific.

City's starting XI were bought for approximately £220million excluding Joe Hart & Bacary Sagna on a free ...

That is a huge gap to bridge.

When we play the likes of City, Chelsea, Utd et al any victory should be thoroughly enjoyed & celebrated.

We are competing in a totally different league financially.

Effort will get you so far but sometimes you just have to know your place.

... and it's f(_)cking heartbreaking.

??

Thought it was pretty bloody easy for them. Comfortable winners in second half. Didn't need to leave 2nd gear.

I sat and watched a recording of the game after I came home and my suspicions were confirmed.

For all City are a far better team than us, half their attacks were coming about because our players passed the ball to them around the halfway line or were caught in possession in the general vicinity of our box.

Everton made it doubly hard for themselves today.

There was one incident where Jags picked up the ball near our own 18 yard line, raced up the field with it and gave it straight to one of their players who promptly kicked it forward leaving us a man diwn at the back for the counter attack :(

Yeah totally agree. While City fully deserved it we didn't help ourselves by giving possession away too easily, yet keeping possession is supposed to be a cornerstone of the Martinez philosophy and something they spend a lot of time working on in training.

Howard made two howlers and will be blamed for losing us the game but actually if it wasn't for him the game would have been over long before lukaku's effort was ruled offside.

McCarthy's disastrous first touch turned over possession to them and scored within 10 seconds of getting the ball. McCarthy also totally lost nasri in the box for the 2nd.

Apart from that I thought we did ok in spells, luckily Galloway got injured and made the decision for Bobby because he was having a torrid time up until that point. Where was Oviedo?

It really should have been mirallas and deulofeu for Kone and cleverly and it should have been a lot earlier.

Barkley had one of his best games for awhile. Him and rom needed to make one of those freekicks count.

Play like that next week and we'll be fine.

Final words: Seamus Coleman.

If Roms first touch in the bedroom is the same as his first touch on the pitch then his girlfriend is going to end up with a clitoris like a punch bag!
