A worry for me is how much better Barry was than McCarthy.

McCarthy was 'anonymous' because he was attempting to mark people. I don't think any side could have lived with Silva today absolutely pure class, but. But whenever he got the ball Barry or McCarthy closed him down and he became frustrated, because he couldn't deliver the killer pass quick enough because of the closing down. And when he did deliver Jags and Stones who were there to clear.

Thought we were unlucky to be honest. Nothing less. Played reasonably well against a group that is just better. Played some really good football at times, more positive on it. Another day Rom's goal doesn't get disallowed and we may go onto win.
Yes. he had one boot offside, that liner just guessed!

You must not dare speak out against the untouchables.
They're a garbage pairing.

Even last week at Southampton, the centre halves were totally exposed all game. It's a good job that Jagielka and Stones have hit the ground running. Can't say enough good things about those two.

I think your wrong their fella. Last week both Barry and McCarthy were pointing at who should be marked, unlike against Watford when a coach and horses could have run through the middle. Surely, its about learning from your mistakes.

This game really brought home the joke that the premiership has become. When a club can field £50 million players in almost every position a well drilled good quality team like ours could nothing to address the outcome of this game. Football died a little bit for me today, and I don't fault any of our squad or management .Money was the winner today. The city squad is in such a position that they will start to buy players now to weaken the opposition rather than add to their squad.

We were outclassed today, fair play to City they look very strong.

Still, I thought we played well and they had to fight for that result. I know it's ifs and buts, but Lukaku's goal would have stood on another day, just as his free kick would have clipped the underside of the bar instead of the top. That would have massively changed the game.

We worked hard today and when we got our foot on the ball we caused them problems, unfortunately our passing wasn't at its best, but again, on another day...

Howard should have done better for their first. The second was just boss to be fair, that pass from Toure was perfect and McCarthy had been chasing after Silva all afternoon so no wonder he was half a yard off it. Can't really fault anyone too much today, agree the Naismith sub was a weird one but hindsight and all that.

Agreed on Rom. Post him up, back to the net, he's pulling taffy with his feet. Hit the big man in stride and he is lethal. Where was the fast-break football from last week? City looked shaky when pushed back at pace.
We need to play to Roms strentghs .. The sooner the team gets it the better

McCarthy was terrible. Barry was surprisingly alright. Ross looks good, but needed more movement ahead of him in the second half. Why Naisy instead of Kev? And why so late with the subs? Howard killed the game letting in the first. Needed to pressure them more, definitely.

Big ups to Stones, Seamus and Ross. Big boos for Howard, McCarthy and the manager.

Tough luck, on to the next. City look unstoppable.
Agreed.

Fully agree with you mate. Could have Cleverley and Barkleybin there and play two proper wide players. No balance to the team at all. Defence is playing well but they're still conceding 2 at home in 2 games because of a garbage keeper and a rubbish midfield.

All worked really well until your goalkeeper lets in one on the near post.

I have one positive from today, (I think!) It looked like we tried something different with corners, Cleverley looks like he can actually take a decent corner and although he was trying to score from the edge of the box I liked that the effort from Jagielka (landed on the roof of the net) it looked like the corner was intentionally directed to him.

It might not have been though, we're still pants in general from set pieces.

Disappointing, thought we played well and were in it till the second. Can't complain, City were ace.

Near post though, ffs Howard.
Yes in that situation it's all Howard needs to do, cover the near post. Should have done better for the second too but ,in fairness, he also made some excellent stops.
