The players that started were mostly knackered, the players that came off the bench we'd all probably agree aren't good enough. We were terrible from start to finish and yet it doesn't feel we were *that* far away in the end, certainly if the refs had done their jobs/ VAR was in operation.

Hope they can get a decent return from these next two games this weekend and Richarlison is okay. We're still a good team with plenty of opportunity to do things this season.

You can’t beat top opposition when you’re missing all your top players.

Everton have got to start arriving in big games with their top players fit and in form but they can’t manage it. James Allan Digne Richarlison on for the 90 minutes and that’s a different game. Davies Siggurdson Bernard Gomes can’t cope with the likes of Pogba Fernandes and Cavani. It’s a complete mismatch.
And they made 9 changes from their last game with no real drop in quality. Imagine our [Poor language removed] team with 9 changes... Ellis Simms, Adeniran, Virginia and co. We have no squad and our squad players playing now are crap.

My god, it really wasn't that bad! First 20 minutes awful but for the rest of the game we held our own up until the end. Sorry to say this but United are a good team and better than we are, unfortunately, with much more depth and options in their squad. We played better in this game than the last time we played them. Our biggest problem is midfield and the inability of players like Iwobie (especially) to pick out the final pass and feed the forwards effectively.

Soon as we lose one game it's always the same. COWARDS. BOTTLERS! DISGRAAACE! Worst game I ever saw and I've been watching for 6000 years!

I agree with you that Utd are a good team but I think the frustration on here is that there are a lot of players in this team that are not good enough.

We have the spine of a really good team but are consistently let down by passenger type players. The cavani incident is one that VAR probably would have picked up on but let’s face it, that doesn’t impact the fact they were the better team.

The league is wide open this year and we need to get back on it and beat a struggling side on Boxing Day

Rode our luck so much first 20 odd mins and we still couldn't muster enough belief.Surely no score after that start should've pushed us on? [Poor language removed] cowards.

Problem is there is too much deadweight in the squad

Tosun - useless
Gomes - useless
Bernard - useless
Delph - crock
Gbamin - crock
Davies - bang average

Simply too many wasters which stops us from being able to rotate and fight on more than one front.

The only player who is any good we have on the bench is Gordon and Carlo hates him.
100% agree. When that first half came the way it did, and then Carlo went with Davies instead of Holgate and then Bernard instead of Gordon, I had very little hope that we'd pull out the win with skill. It's sad really. I back Carlo fully but I will never ever agree with, nor take my balls off by saying "just trust the manager" when he throws on Tom Davies and Cenk Tosun in response to the likes of Martial and Rashford coming of Utd's bench.

All of Everton’s bright moments in that game, and there weren’t many, had Sigurdsson at the heart of them. He did well defensively too, for the most part. I do not think he was brilliant, but he was the best of a bad group.
Yet he can't even muster a shot on goal, even when he has loads of space on the edge of the box. I wonder what scares him so much about the thought of shooting from 18 yards?

Let's no overreact now as usual. They were better, fresher and had that touch of class with Cavani's finish. We looked solid in the second half, back 4 again excellent.

Move on to boxing day, hopefully James back in the mix and see the likes of Gordon getting a run out to freshen things up.

Happy Xmas Evertonian's, we have been in alot worse situations than this.
For me I am worried about the legs. DCL is knackered. Richie problem won’t be able to play this weekend. I hate defeats like this in the cup. The biggest game for this season is Sheffield on the weekend. Can this team pick themselves up and get straight back to winning ways.
