An abject, cowardly capitulation. Anyone who thinks this team will achieve anything this season without major surgery is deluded. I fully expect a loss to Sheffield United.
They were just better than us. We tried. It wasn't a lack of courage. In fact if we really didn't care we'd have gotten smoked the way we played. Effort alone kept it within reason.

Goal scorer should not have even been on the pitch after that red card worthy throat grab.
Come to think of it, some of our players should not have been either (for different reasons).
Our squad is paper thin and so results like this are only to be expected when we have so many games back to back.
Sigurdsson was my MOTM simply because he was not as crappy as everyone else.
The basics like passing, ball winning and ball holding were sadly lacking all over the pitch. As I said earlier, it was as though they had hit the eggnog before kickoff, only it's us supporters who end up with the hangover!

The money will be there if needed.

I feel that Brands and his team have not had enough conviction and the Kean loan still massively frustrates me.

The result isn't really on him or anybody tonight other than us not having enough on the day and naff scheduling - it'll cost every team (bar the one that moans the loudest).

Just in general, it's clear what we need and there should be strides to get those players in quickly and decisively. There isn't an excuse not to do business when the table is so congested.

Why are you so confident that the money will be there? I mean, how much will it cost to 'fix' us?

We need defenders who can defend and midfield players who can the basics of the game
Get on the ball
Hunt down the opposition
Tackle properly
Pass the ball forward to a teamate
Be in the correct position to get the ball

Stuff like that is the sort of thing that always seems to go v Everton, but we let it happen, we know he should be off yet he scores, same way as Bruno should have been off at 2-1 in the league game with 20 to go yet sets up the 3rd and so on

We'll be lucky to get 4 points out the next 3 games - we are knackered, have a few injuries and a squad that is crap and doesnt allow us to rotate like other sides.

In hindsight we should have just put out a 2nd string tonight and had the best players fit rested for a full 7 days ready to take apart a poor Sheff Utd outfit.

As much as we would love a cup run we simply dont have the squad depth to fight on two fronts and aim for top 6 right now.

I agree, the lads do look a bit knackered.

Realistically they have more quality than us and in depth, added to the fact they have hit tremendous form.
It should be no surprise that we lost tonight.
Also James would have made a difference tonight if he’d been available as we lacked creativity and misplaced passes too often especially in final third.

As soon as he didn't get penalised I text my mate to say he will score a late winner. What I should have done is told Ladbrokes

Another disappointing night, I turned the TV over to SKY One towards the end and Davie Blaine was trying to blow his brains out, I think it was ironic as that what it feels to be like an Evertonian sometimes.

Anyway, going back to what I said months back until the dead wood are hoofed out Everton will fall short, well short. The biggest surprise about tonight is that they were in the game for so long, they never really troubled the United keeper did they.

Need the dead wood removed, it wont happen in January but if these players are still in the squad by next season prepare for de ja vu - at the very minimum these need to be replaced and my biggest worry is that DCL and Richarlison will be taken off our hands, they wont hang around forever.

Bernard
Delph
Davies
Gomez..

Gomes, Gomez? what is it.. was he even playing tonight?
We get rid of the deadwood and what are we left with? Less than what we started with tonight? We’ve been trying to get rid of deadwood for years. It’s still there, just new versions of it.

I don't think you can blame Carlo, we're simply recovering from the awful signings made from 2016 to 2018. Liverpool were incredibly lucky not to get any serious injuries last season without Mane, Salah and VVD they woundn't have won the league. The problem is when they going gets tough we have too many average players who fall apart and nobody to really carry them. In the Moyes era our players had heart, they worked as a unit, nowadays our average players have no passion, so when we're put under pressure we fall apart. Anyway it's been an awful 2020, have a great Christmas and New Year fellow blue boys.

I think I understand the point.- Get rid of dead wood and diligently replace I’m assuming he means.
It is really evident the gulf in quality between our better players and lesser players..
We are doing as well as I’d have hoped at this stage. A couple of decent ins and obvious outs in January would be great!!!
