It's a difficult one for Carlo macca, does he park the bus against the RS (and play Sigurdsson :() and allow them all the possession, or do we just get at them from the off.

He'll park the bus Lou cos he doesn't trust the players to string 5 passes together. He's more than happy now to try and get through the season with this ultra defensive line up.

I'd be shocked of Gylfi isn't starting Saturday.

Let's get this straight as well, he's getting picked ahead of Rodriguez. GYLFI GETS PICKED AHEAD OF JAMES!

If James literally stood on one position all game he'd still have had 5 assists, 4 pre assists, 2 goals more than that joke of a player.

Superb Citeh team no doubt. No one can live with them. 2nd goal was taken well but he was allowed to ghost across our back line. 3rd goal should have been saved as it wasn't in the corner and Pickford did mess it up. Davies and Iwobi off I believe was more tactical as Carlo wanted to push for an equaliser. Thought Davies and Iwobi were doing an OK job. The tactic didn't work. It pushed Coleman up and Holgate went from being CB to right back Godfrey from left back to CB and Digne to left back with Siggy dropping slightly deeper. May of worked if we had the right players but we are short of them.
Holgates head went, he was getting destroyed and trying to foul. His head physically went down and he tried to hide as much as he could afterwards....not a good sign. We can all see we are still light years away from the likes of City but we are still carrying bog standard players. This is going to be a slow build by Carlo and we need to recognise and accept that a lot of work still has to be done. At least Carlo is getting players to play in different positions when needed and the systems change often during a game. Once players (intelligent players) get onside with this type of footy then it can only help us in future.

I am going to look through the next few months of poor togger performance from our brave lion hearts, and concentrate on this year's Blue Chrimbo activities: that is when our brave lads in blue, with all their community work, do us proud!!

It's not games like this that hurt... It's getting dominated at home by teams like Fulham and getting shutout at Goodison by Leeds and West Ham. Those are the games that will cost us in the end... Well, let's be honest, they already have...

Not negativity just calling what I see, we played poorly and so did city by their standards.
Better than Fulham but still a poor performance from us.
Agree, not sure how saying how you see it deserves that. Surely there’s a positive to it in that you think we should be playing better.

get to bed
It's okay. Give 'em a big thumbs up eh? Did us proud. They really tried didn't they?

They are awful. End of. Nothing wrong with what I've said. I've been feeling that way for a while. So much rotten there that needs cutting out. Walsh has killed us, the effects still being keenly felt.

We desperately need DCL back, although Richarlison could be a decent 9 he can’t play with his back to goal, need that proper focal point.
I’d be curious to see what they look like together in a 4-4-2 again with Allan and Doucoure behind. Our problem with that step last year is they were backed up by Sig, Gomes, and bad Tom Davies in midfield which basically just meant we were overrun every week. They had a good partnership and Rich seemed to performs better in that setup though.

I personally disagree. City I thought were very good. They're arguably the best team in the world at the moment - the pace of their passing and close control of all their players is too much for most teams to live with. They've dismantled far better teams than us this season.
I thought by city's standards they weren't as good as they normally are.
However they would still have beaten most teams in the league with that performance.

What I mean is city didn't look invincible, and a lot of mistakes by us made it easier for them.

Absolutely appalling. Sorry to say it, but there are no positives to this. We are beyond diabolical.

We will be smashed as usual at the weekend. Team of utter cowards. Sigurdsson is the worst of the lot yet he plays all the time and gets the armband. I honestly think that we will finish 11th/12th again. Even if we turn it round our goal difference is so poor it's like being another few points behind. After the weekend we will likely have a negative goal difference whilst chasing Europe - that's more Moyes territory.

cant even bare to read more utter rubbish like this anymore.

more like this going on ignore from now on.

Results like tonight’s are not too bad compared to losing to West Ham, Newcastle and Fulham. That’s where the problem lies and why it’s worrying. If we are rebuilding you’d expect us to turn those over and take results like tonight on the chin. But we are not.....

Went for Davies as MOTM because he only made a dumb pass once in my mind (in the first half), but after was a genuine nuisance for them, and played some neat stuff and really did a good job stopping their creativity.

he goes off and they a slot from the space he was occupying. It’s not a coincidence.

Sigurdsson has been possibly the worst signing in recent years, he doesn't offer anything. He's not a Deli Ali, David Silva or even a Ross Barkley, but he's not a Cahill or a Felaini either. He just slows all our play down and ensures we play at a pedestrian pace, he just doesn't offer anything really.
You are 100% right, but why aren’t the managers seeing it? There is other players that can play.

Great to see the usual ridiculous polarisation of any opinion on show tonight.

We weren't awful tonight.

We've got differing opinions on awful then. Fulham was awful. Newcastle was awful. This was an average performance against a world class team.

What type of bear is best?
