It was evident that our passing was more froward, even mentioned by Neville on MOTD highlighting the contribution of Gibson and Osman. I wonder if the great play was also a consequence of no Barry and no Mirallas.

I think your right. One has his on eye his pension the other an escape route. That may sound harsh but you know where I'm coming from.

So, just to recap,

Ossie is now good

Rom is now ace

Lennon is very good

Gibson is class

Coleman is crap

Mirallas is rubbish

Ross is bang average

Kone is OK

Is this about the strength of it?

McCarthy is now Joint 10th top Goal Scorer for Everton across all competitions (With Kone and McGeady).

Reminded me of a lot of games last season. Lots of matches where the opposition got the ball into our area frequently but didn't create too many clear opportunities.
Ironically, I would have liked us to employ some of that sterile possession everyone's been moaning about yesterday. at 2-0 up instead of giving the ball away so cheaply, would have been nice to see us tiki taka them into submission.

I think that probably helped. Osman has excellent vision and will see a pass slightly quicker than most players. Gibson has an excellent passing range.

As I said in another thread, sometimes you stumble upon something that works quite well. For us being more direct has a positive impact upon Lukaku's play. As long as we avoid the "Unsworth ball" of the 90's I think playing with a bit more tempo can be beneficial in games.

Really pleased to see Atsu do something. Been desperate to see him get a chance after his AFCON performance. Showed good pace and very good awareness to play a perfect pass to Ross. Hopefully he can show us more of that before the season ends to give us something to think about when it comes to signing him on a permanent.

I am expecting him to start in Kiev in place of the cup tied Lennon.

Played to our strengths well last night. Well, strength. That being, hit the ball to the massive 15 stone of muscle fella up front's feet and let him get some willing runners into the game rather than passing it sideways constantly.

I think we traditionally do better when we have a baldy in the centre of the park. Look how we did with Joe parkinson (fa cup), lee carsley (champions league) now that Gibbo has returned with an almost completely smooth swede we are going to rise up the league and win the Europa
