Mirallas needs to learn to pass. Far too selfish. Jelavic + Moyes continually having words with him. Hopefully have that drilled out of him.

.

true, he got hooked for that just before he got took off. He was,nt the only one as Steven and Big hair did the same.

The lads are hungry and have the confidence to go for goal not a bad trait but in tight games you play the percentages and save the solo efforts for when you have a 2 goal gap.

I'm blanking last night's game out of my mind and looking towards our next game, my brain still can't comprehend the fact we never took the three points last night but that's footie for ya. I hope the lads are seething and take their anger out on Swansea, 5-0 job lol

Edit - forgot to praise Mirallas, looked really good and made me ejaculate with that skill he beat two men with on the edge of the box, before he signed for us i read up about him and apparently his two biggest issues were not tracking back enough and not distributing the ball in time, he did lots of tracking runs yesterday and did some really nice passes. I think he will develop further down the season so i think Moyes has got a winner there.

All I can say is, we were crying out for a creative central midfielder to partner Osman. Just imagine Arteta in the team now, we would undoubtedly have won the game at a canter, and be pushing for 4th.

howard was more at fault for the 1st imo. i am no goalkeeper but i understand they come out to try and cut the angle, but there was no need for him to come off his line for that first, had he stayed on his line, the ball would just about reached him, it was a decent effort but not a classy finish in any sence of the word, was really poor i feel. he's definitely in the lower half of the prem when it comes to keepers. he's barely had a save to make all season and conceded 5 goals. obviously not all his fault but he should have done better with the villa and there was definitely suspicions about both today. i'm sorry but he's not good enough for us
Agree, Howard is a really poor keeper, always has been.

Man I thought we started well!! I was really excited by what I was seeing..

Thoughts.

Neville playing in the heart of the team at holding mid is LOL funny.. He shouldn't even be in the 18, Sorry Phil.

Whats impressing me here is that its all talk that we should have won - this time a year ago we'd have been thrilled with a point against Newcastle considering how badly we were playing...

This time last year we got a draw against Villa in a game we dominated and should have won but for refereeing decisions and bad defending.

More things change ...

I'm laying the blame for this result directly at the manager, irrespective of the fact that we should have won the game, his decision to play Neville cost us the three points, it was an excellent first half display apart from neville who still contrived to be woeful (not easy to do either when a team is flowing), there was only one blindingly obvious change to make last night to the starting line up, Neville out, Mirallas in (off the striker), guaranteed we'd have had at least a 2 goal lead at half time and the sorry thing is that he'll be the first name back on the sheet for swansea......

Keep calm and Chive on.

Our CBs got owned on the 50/50 balls vs one of the best forward combos in the league (Ba and Cisse win a lot of balls in the air)

Howard was weak but you have to expect some help from Jags and Distin to do something on each of those goals.

Neville...point yourself to the bench please.

.....

Bright spot was Mirallas. He is a goer.

Just watched it back again.

When Ossie loses it in midfield Neville is at walking pace jockeying the midfielder. He actually looks like he's hobbling and doesn't get close to him at all. Hibbert had pushed on too far and didn't get back quickly enough, leaving Jags exposed one on one with Ba. Jagielka didn't get tight enough either. The shot did seem to dribble in. Maybe it was out of Howard's reach to be fair to him and he will have been surprised that Ba took it so early.

On the second goal Distin momentarily stops rather than sticking with the runner. Howard stops too. Ba had to wait for the ball to sit up, which might have given the keeper time to smother the shot if he had kept on going.

The only member of our defensive unit (Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Neville and Osman) not culpable for either goal was our left back.

Looking at the goals that we scored they were both very close to Harper. Could he not have saved them with his feet?

Ok on uni comp as laptop has had a break down.

Calmed down abit after losing my voice screaming all sorts of obscenities last night.

Osman/Neville midfield is a disaster waiting to happen. I cannot accept that Neville was a better midfield option than Heitinga. Shocking that, from Moyes.
Howard had 3 things to do yesterday, mucked up twice, did he even attempt to save either of them?
Only players that came out of that with some credit for me were Anichebe, Mirallas, Baines.

Don't get me bloody started on the ref either.
