It's not just his goals. It's his reputation and more importantly his presence.

I agree with that. But I don't think a 'back up' striker would add either of those - would they? Or they'd be a back-up forward at a CL club (or they are and have stayed there)

I covered Arsenal tonight btw. Perez - scored a pen and then a bit of a jammy one after a good run. Looks decent but similarly up against two CBs like Bennett and Bassong would probably have faired equally to Valencia.

Perez is a good player but very different to Lukaku. I'd have gone for Mandzukic or Bacca. £30m which would have been very well spent.

Neither would leave the club's they are at to play second-fiddle to Lukaku mate (without Europe).

Mandzukic's pov - why be second choice at Everton when he can be second choice at Juve?

Bacca's pov - main man at Milan. Why be second choice at Everton?

Kept that feckin mask on for 3 years too long.... Wow was I vindicated though after seemingly creating the single largest thread known to man since the dawn of the internet forum.

Eventually though it just became page after page of me just being so remarkably right, that I began to use it as a form of perverted self engraciating "I was right" pornography. It was all fun and games at first, but soon i became a full blown addict to my "rightness", my greatest moment of essentially just having a really accurate hunch about something. That's when I started missing work and rent payments, just to have "one more read" of all the pages of utter "i was rightness"...

Today, I shan't reveal my hunches about Koeman for fear that another such exhibition might just be the thing that eventually causes my head to literally explode from hyperinflation secondary to the most severe case of "I was rightitis".

Needless to say however, I am no longer wearing the mask. The mask, has finally, been set free....

I'm Fat Stan, and that was my story of being really really really [Poor language removed] right.

Yeah, you really got that call right mate...after three years.

I can imagine your historical prophesies:

1960 - "Kennedy will be shot next week"
1967 - "I reckon The Beatles will split in a day or so"
1974 - "I see a new youth music movement coming soon with safety pins and anarchy involved"

Well done mate. Very prescient.

Inconsistent though. Need someone who can do it when he's injured or in poor form. Bit of competition might even do him soon good.
He hasn't played enough games to know that he would be inconsistent there plus further back he wouldn't be responsible for creating the chances.

I think the pressure gets to him and I also think against certain opposition his game just doesn't suit being played as a 10. Never has and it looks never will.

I am now convinced he's not a #10 and will not ever be. Needs to drop back a bit where it's not quite as congested and decisions needn't be made as quickly as they are around the box.

There has to be someone. He's 27 so may be a bit old but I really like Rondon and he was bought recently by West Brom so there are options out there.

Frankly getting Valencia was a joke.
