I think every game we've played this season has been a better performance than probably 90 percent of last seasons.

Were sticking in games. We're not giving up too many chances.

Badly need functioning forward.
I agree with this, as frustrating as it is at the minute, in every game so far we’ve been in till the end and competed. I know it’s the minimum you expect but in so many games last season we’d go a goal down and we’d collapse. The forward situation is really affecting us though and I don’t know if/when we’ll get it sorted.

I can’t recall how many points we had after three games last year but it was a lot more than now.

Yet the football now is way more sparkling and I feel more optimistic than I did this time last season.

We realyy struggked to beat Saints and, in particula, Burnley.

Didn't we get ten points from first five games last season?
It was all very scrappy and opportunistic. Built on quick sand and it proved true.

We badly need a forward but I see a foundation being built here , albeit in its infancy.

Last season no matter how sparkling our forward play may have been (which was never) we would concede and then again and be out the game.

We seem to be tougher to break down and I think fine margins mean we have one point rather than four or six from our first three games.

I said this earlier to someone at the match, I think we had 7 points after 3 games and we were flying in early October, yet, we ended up in a relegation battle. I don’t want to read too much into the early results cos it’s a long season, it’s just frustrating as points have been there to pick up and we’ve failed due to not signing any forwards.

I don’t think we looked as solid at the back today, tarkowski and coady both looked very nervy in parts, particularly the last 15/20 of the first half when they got a bit more into the game.
Would have loved onana to have more of an impact today and get us moving up the pitch but I think after that booking and the foul he gave away soon after it was almost as if he stopped showing for ball like he was conscious if he got caught out and had to recover he would have been off on his Goodison debut, which was a shame.
