We can effectively forget about achieving anything better than top 8 in the league now.

On that basis I wouldn't be too despondent if the FA cup and Europa League were prioritised. But a victory against the Red slime is a must!

Sad penalty day, similar to going to City and having a bottle job nonce screw the game there as well.

The sooner something is done to outlaw the rectum warts refereeing games the better.

Premier league teams have got us sussed! Need a Europa league run or FA cup run to stop the season from dwindling into nothingness!

He needs to change it up in the PL and try something different, everyone already knows that tho!

Were not playing well enough to be able to point fingers at refs, pen or not, red card or not today, we were crap again and its not the officials job to be sorting our tactics out

Small things have big consequences,Barry should score at 0-0 from the corner mis hitting it across the area when yards away from goal ,Mirallas should score at 0-1, if any of them go in,the game could have been different even more if the mirallas chance had gone in,then you have what should be a red card, then the pen and so on etc,all ifs and butts, but we just do not attack like last season and play nearly the opposite, last year if felt as though even after defeat we were unlucky, but when we go behind this season, sometimes it fells like we give up

I think I must have watched a different game to you ;) ... even if naismith was as hungry as you say. , hes a crap footballer. Pouching the odd goal or being a nuisance , at his best , yesok . But good skill ball control passing etc hes doggy doo. And I dont think he was anywhere near his best , offered much , or contributed any better than barkley.

He had an off day today. But labelling him crap is a throwback to Moyes days. Hes been an important player for us the last twelve months..and unlike some we have, can control even wayward high balls and hes great in the air.

Howard - Had absolutely nothing to do and not expected to save penalties. Robles barely touched the ball.
-
Coleman - Again, very very subdued. Did nothing in an attacking sense.
Jagielka - Abysmal form of leadership from our so-called captain.
Stones - Did alright on his return from injury. Alcaraz also fine when he came on.
Baines - Subdued like Coleman. Had one moment of inspiration but couldn't get a decent shot away.
-
Mirallas - Didn't do a thing all game.
McCarthy - Wasn't tested by them attacking and isn't the creative force we need, but was fine.
Barry - Fine, but do we need two defensive midfielders at home against rubbish teams?
Barkley - I thought he was absolutely useless.
Naismith - When he is bad he is very very bad. And today he was crap.
-
Lukaku - Why is he always on the wing ffs? Poor performance anyway.

Last season Coleman and Baines were pivotal, lately they have been, like you say, subdued! I think other managers know that if you stop those two then it goes a long way to nullifying our attacking threat!

Lukaku was the sole plus point of the game - everyone else dreadful, Martinez has lost the plot and I hope for his sake we're not in a relegation scrap in January as he'll have to be sacked; don't trust him to keep us in the league regardless of the quality of player we have. That was shambolic today and I have windburn on my bloody face from the Top Balcony to boot.

Your comments are pointless, all teams can have a bad day with referees but it does not excuse incompetent play or the manager's lack of ideas. They scored one goal from a penalty, why can't our team get stuck in and score 2 goals to win. That is what you should be looking at not calling the ref names what does that prove? If our players were any good they should be able to put bad decisions behind them and play.

Take the Soton game we pay millions for a striker to score goals, what was he doing in our penalty area scoring own goals, should he not have been up the pitch to pick passes out. Now that has to be down to the manager.

You know like in Footy Manger at half time team talks you can say

''Just go out there, relax and play your natural game. The result will come.''

and

''If we play our game, we will win. You're all very capable of that.''

Which one do we reckon Martinez is using?
