Everton v Stoke City

Cant help feeling that you are playing us at a good time

We have just had our supposed "cup final" but due to negative tactics we rolled over and died against Manure - and that IS the first time that has happened at home in the Premier League

We have two centre backs being shoe-horned into playing as full-backs, a quality striker cum midfield player who cost 5 million who cannot get a game when Beattie and Fuller are injured, and the natives are getting a little restless

We may not have expected to beat Manure but WE DID expect to put in tackles and get close to their midfield, but it did not happen and was the poorest showing from us since our return to the Prem

Either there will be a reaction from the players, or we come and set out our stall to defend and take "what we can" from the game.

I certainly hope it is the former. At £32 for a ticket, I dont mind losing, but I certainly dont want to go away from Goodison on Sunday thinking that we havent even competed:(

Just stick the boot in and play a rough, tough game and you'll get points out of us mate.

I will echo comments made by Fullergoals, it could be a good time to play us due to the points he made.

on the other hand, Pulis had said that he wants to get the fire in the players bellies again and he I'm sure he'll have the starting 11 revved up come kick off.

Fuller looks a major doubt and Beattie is no where near to proper match fitness, Tuncay has yet to start in the Prem but I'm sure that this could be the game.

Likely to favour a 4 -4 -1 -1 formation. My guess at our starting 11

Sorenson

Huth
Faye
Shawcross
Collins

Lawrence
Delap
Whelan
Etherington

Tuncay

Kitson

Unfortunately, I can't make it Sunday but I'll do my best to watch it somewhere (pub/internet).

Prediction - Five goal thriller, one side to edge by the odd goal - could go either way but I'll opt for a Stoke 3-2 win rather than 3-2 defeat.(y)

You'll have to get the points you need somewhere else (and I honestly hope you do), as Everton will be marching on.

Btw, thinking of visiting the Blacburn vs Stoke game on the 28th of November as I'll be in England for the Merseyside derby. Will be rooting for your lot that day.(y)

Our midfield seems to show up at home so we should be fine. You never know though, our football is so hit and miss at the moment.

If we had Mikel Arteta and Phil Neville available it'd be a piece of piss. Sadly that's not the case.

If he starts Osman over Bilyaletdinov I'll go mad.

How Osman even gets in the ground is a mystery let alone gets given a shirt and makes it onto the pitch .

There are a hell of a lot of centre halfs in your team/squad lads whats with the lack of fullbacks - dont get it myself! we like to run the flanks and either get a cross in or a set peice we may get some joy out of it, but if you press us hard we havnt been able to deal with it so far this season - see Fulham and Burnley.

Feeling a bit better if none of your strikers are fit so it will be Kitson, Tuncay - Beattie came on at the weekend didnt he?

Wilko has played really well this year - and is very unfortunate to have lost his place to Huth, who although solid, doesnt really look like a full back, while Collins has come in for Higginbottom, and has also yet to cover himself in glory

Up front is anyones guess mate - but dont expect more than one:@

Agreed mate i thought Higgenbottom and Wilko were doing really well - they were close to being in my Fantasey team (football obviously lol) . Couldnt understand the centre half hoarding in the transfer window - i remember last year Shawcross had trouble at times getting a starting place. Never really rated Huth to be honest certainly not more then what you had. Cant really imagine him as a full back. Didnt you play 5 man defence in one game, was it Chelsea?

Yeah - played five at the back against Chelsea and considering it was the first time we had tried it can honestly say that it worked quite well first half and even saw us take the lead.

Wilko then conveniently had a bout of food poisoning for the Bolton game, and has only been seen against Blackpool since

Higgy is a solid enough defender, but his distribution is awful, and I think Collins (although like Higgy primarily a central defender), was seen as a better ball player, but despite an awful tackle that cost us two points against Bolton, has kept his place in the team so far

Cant see us going five at the back against you, and think Pulis will opt for the 4-5-1, or 4-4-1-1 but hope he doesnt play Etherington "in the hole" coz he looked like a fish out of water on Saturday

Evening Cityfullergoals

You seem a very knowlegable footy fan who obviously goes the game

What do you think about the 'Runway song' on Saturday

It was quite amazing really I wasnt there but I heard that quite a lot of 'Stokies' were singing it This includes a one of my mates who is a match going stoke fan

He said that that it was sung en masse near the end of the game I know you hate United but bloody hell.

Went on the Oatcake forum and was staggered by the idiots condoning it.

However fair play to the lads who were ashamed by it

Not tarring all with the same brush just be interested on your opinion

Anyway nothing personal but I hope Everton stuff you (y)

CFG not here at present but I'm sure that he was just as ashamed as I was to hear this song at the match.

I'd like to say it was a only a few but that was not the case.

For me it was just too much and I left the ground with a good 10 minutes to go , the first time I have done so for years.

One section of our ground (Block 19) is made up of young fans who like to start songs, etc and are very easily influenced. They probably don't even know that some of the people on the plane ended up playing for Stoke.

The vast majority of Stokies are sound and genuine fans but unfortunately I am embarassed to say we have more than just a few knobs. :@

Knobheads mate

They probably dont realise that tragedies in football can happen to anyone and everyone

Ask them about the Bolton v Stoke game when a wall collapsed and 30 odd people were killed and they wont know what you are talking about

Totally agree with Lightwood - they are not classed as supporters in my eyes

Bit of banter - every time

Going over the top cos they are smashed on two bottles of Carlsberg - pricks

Fair play to you lads

I was amazed and angry when I heard about it and posted on another thread ranting about Stoke fans in a sweeping generalization

For that I owe you an apology its too easy to tar all with the same brush in the heat of the moment

In the same way that most true match going United fans arent Gloryhunters

We get them which is unfortunately the price of success

Anyway look forward to a bit of banter in the future lads(y)
