Gana Gueye remains a doubt with a groin problem. Leighton Baines suffered a rib injury during the game at Huddersfield and will be assessed. Lucas Digne is suspended and Yerry Mina is unlikely to be fit.

Defender Willy Boly is available for Wolves after serving a three-match suspension. Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has no fresh injury concerns.

So our fragile defence will face Wolves' flying forwards. Sounds like a good opportunity for Jordan Pickford to show what he can do.

As the teams stand right now, i dont see us or you being that far away from United, Chelsea or Arsenal tbh. I cant speak for you in terms of what you need as a team as i dont watch you week in week out, but if we could upgrade 3 players in our side ( probably in defence ) and they fit with our ethos and system, i think our first 11 would be a match for them. Arsenal i dont think are that great at all, we should have beaten United and Arsenal already. We have thrown away quite a few points either through being a bit naive or just not being clinical enough, Leicester, Brighton, Arsenal and United away spring to mind as games we have played well enough to win and either lost or drawn. Thats another 10 points better for us if we were a little bit smarter. I'd personally like us to bring in a couple of players like Moutinho who have that experience and know how to raise the standards at the club. Having winners at a club rubs off on other players.
Over 38 games though..
It's all right doing it every now and then but consistency is the thing.
Ye are doing well but I would not be comparing to united or Chelsea

Dear Deipnosphist
The Millwall loss was SO VERY 'Everton That' as to almost be the antithesis of 'Everton That'. This is an interesting situation where our ability to fulfill the unpredictableness of 'Everton That' becomes predictable - and so we might 'Everton That' the Everton That'!
Its a bit like playing a draw 2 on a draw 2 in a game of Uno.
where does this leave us?
Confounded again!
'Everton That'!!!
Charles
The 'Everton that' cliché is so boring and irritating. Will you all just drop it. Almost every other club could use it referring to their own club and the
few who don't need to right now will one day. If they're so inclined.

Thats what i've said though, teams around our positions are there because of inconsistency. But i still dont think Arsenal for example are that far ahead of any of the group of sides around Everton and Wolves. With 2 or 3 more quality players i think we would have that consistency.

Looking forward to this game. Will be open, free flowing and exciting to watch. Wolves are a good side with their tails up and they will come and attack us, but hopefully we will prevail. Bernard to have a stormer today and cap it off with a goal.

2-1 to us... Come on you blue boys!!!

Thing is they add them as well.
Bridging the gap to them sides is very difficult. Enjoy been where ye are now. But pushing on to challenge the rest won't be done easily at all

Arsenal are 14 points ahead of us.

The only way we could reach that level with 2 or 3 players would be if those players were Messi, Kante and Van Dijk. Even then, we’d still have the likes of DCL, Keane and Davies to counterbalance things.

We’ll need 7, possibly 8 exceptional additions minimum to hit that level.

That said, I think we’ll give Wolves a game. I really rate Jota and Jimenez and Neves will probably be a top 6 player next year. They have it good with Santo and if they get Europe it will be an incredible job he’s done there. Fancy another draw, 1-1
