Match Thread Everton vs Liverpool, Goodison Park, Oct 4th, 2015

I liked Moyes, but one fault he had was his mental block with this lot. It seems to be diminishing under Martinez, albeit slowly. Having said that, we haven't won a derby since 2010.

I'm not wanting to start a Moyes:Martinez debate by the way.

Regression to the mean is our pitiless weapon. Perhaps the soulless power of statistics can overcome the magnetic field of the bottle.

Use the force, Everton.

I've tried my best to keep away from this thread. Just reading through the last two pages has got me jittering like an extra in Breaking Bad. I now just want it to be over with - roll on 3.30 Sunday.

If Bobby sends them out to go at them from the off then we'll smash them. If he sends us out to be pragmatic and retain a solid deep defensive block like against City then we're for it.

Please just go for them from the off - no mercy. Please please please!

Think a lot will depend on Stones and Coleman's fitness. Hopefully Martinez doesn't put them in half baked. Fully fit though they're two of the top defenders in the league and are a massive loss. Whilst doing a job Funes Mori and Browning just aren't at that level yet. It's already a huge blow missing Baines one of the top LBs in the league. As confident as we are, it would take a great performance to win if 3/4 of your first choice top class back 4 are missing and are filled by two kids and a new signing no matter how promising they are. A fully fit Stones and Coleman would be a huge lift. Would be typical of us for them not to make it though.

Brilliant effort. Enjoyed reading that.

We will pump these. Im very confident that we will pump these and send them home with nothing.

I expect us to win.

And win comfortably.

There, I said it.
I agree. I always go into these games feeling nauseous. Despite so many years of seemingly having a better squad or going into the fixture in better form, I'd still be expecting a defeat...like how did we lose three times to them the season Dogleash returned???

But this time I am 100% confident that our time has come. I'm predicting a win. An emphatic one at that. 3-0 or 4-1 perhaps.

It will happen.

Doesn't matter when it is, where it is, or who's been playing well or not. When it gets to within 3 days my brain enters full on derby mode.

"We'll snot these everywhere!" to "I hope we don't cock it up" every 2 milliseconds.

Then a horrible sleep before waking up with excitement and fear the likes of which you only experience before your know you're gonna get you end away for the first time.

Just need to cut out silly errors and not play with fear which is the only reason we've not won at Goodison in recent seasons. Recently even in Moyes' last season we give away early stupid goals with uncharacteristic defending usually on set pieces then proceed to batter them. Happened in Martinez's first season at home, they had about three efforts on target and scored them all yet we could have won about 8-3, all their goals were highly preventable as well. Deulofeu played as though Mignolet was his teammate that day. Last season we were absolutely wretched yet they barely laid a glove on us, with a semblance of any sort of football we could have easily won that. Liverpool have not played well at Goodison for a long time. Half the time though we've gifted them a 2 goal lead or are bricking ourselves when we have the chance to win it. Defend normally like we do every week, finish our chances normally like we do every week and we win no question. Everton normally beat themselves in these games.
