Richy-DCL
Siggy/James
Allan-Davies-Coleman
Digne-Godfrey-Keane-Holgate
Olsen/Virginia

4-4-2 diamond in attack, 5-2-1-2 in defense
While I must admit your proposed lineup is great, I think that siggy should be on the bench. This would be quite important to give James more confidence. In fact, his presence could be crucial considering that any corner or free kick would be a great opportunity for Everton. And no one kicks the ball like the Colombian does.

I have the same trepidations as many about this fixture because of who we face and we haven't really played well for a while.

That being said we play in the same league as them, we can defend valiantly and have a bit of quality to punish sides we haven't had in the past.

My assumption is we'll try and play as we did against them in the League but who knows. My feeling is if you don't have a midfield who are up to the task then disregard them, hit high balls to our tall striker with a great leap and have a player either side to try and get to the knock on.

Victory isn't impossible. A memorable win would be nice - we've had a few pleasant surprises this season.

Agree. The key to win this match is the defensive intensity on the midfield. And while I think James should be on the lineup, he will have to sacrifice himself on defensive tasks more than ever.

Olsen (if fit)

Godfrey/Holgate - Mina - Keane/Godfrey - Digne

Coleman - Davies - Allan - Richarlison

Gylfi

Dom

It'll be something like that I reckon, with - like we saw in the derby - Coleman basically dropping into a back five and then pushing up when we can on the break.

Gomes will be next to hopeless starting this match, as we're not gonna have the ball and he's a liability out of possession, Iwobi is good to come on late on and do some dribbling in the corner flag if needed.

Richarlison has to push right up alongside Dom but with Coleman dropping back that should allow Digne to push up the other side and Richarlison to cut infield.

We've got this, we're on our way to Wembley.

I have no idea what team we will field against Man City, but we are going through. The drought ends this Season and Everton will start to write a new chapter of success in the history books of English football.
Led Zep had a song called "The Song Remains the Same"wherein Robert Plant sang an opening line: "I had a dream...a crazy dream"

It sounds like you must have had dream similar to Plant's lol

Need to park a few buses and hit them on the counter, the only way I can see a win is from set pieces.

James is out - as he always seems to be.

I am looking at the front and who do I play... Iwobi and Bernard are a no go - so we just have Lewin and Rich.. there is the problem.

Olsen
Holgate Keane Godfrey Digne
Allan
Gomes Sigs Davies
Lewin Rich

....well, I believe we can win this game. Times change, but the Cup has always been a leveller & we still owe them for Tommy Booth.

I hope the lads are practicing their penalties.
...not to sound pedantic but I think it should be 'practising'. In British spelling, 'practice' is the noun and 'practise' is the verb. I can think of some other examples where the 'c' vs 's' noun/verb comes into play: council/counsel, prophecy/prophesy, advice/advise (although of course the latter are not homophones)

I don't think I can put myself through watching this (Of course I will, but I know I shouldn't and I definitely shouldn't come in here when we're 3-0 down and Davies has been caught in possession several times and Gomes has passed the ball weakly out of play and conceded a stupid penalty...)
