Far too much respect for Pep and city floating around. The only team who regularly do well against them are United and they don't pander to the inferiority complex.

They are a great team with a great manager and great players but that doesnt mean losing is ok. Its a bad night and we have to get far better and fast.

I mentioned it in the game thread mate, it was a one off cup game, so why not go for it more.

Mina and Allan also played well but Eton Dom shades my MotM. City are probably the best sporting team (of any code) that there has ever been. And in Pep, the world has never seen a better coach/manager.
Well done to our brave, brave lionhearts who continue, week after week, to make us all so proud.

Its not about bombing players forward, the gameplan was ok. The lack of quality and bravery from the players was the issue. We had enough moments on the break to be a threat, we were just rubbish with the ball and DCL was poor.

In the last 10 minutes we got deeper and deeper because we lacked belief. Both the quarter finals showed the difference between good teams and average ones. Its no fluke that good teams win late all the time. When did we last win a game in the final 5 or 10 mins?

Most of us will concede that it isn't a disgrace to lose tonight we did well for a while in the game. I just think we didn't give it a go going forward. We're giving Manchester City tremendous respect because they are the top team in the land but we are not giving Everton Football Club the respect we deserve. As the last guy said the mentality needs to change.

....for me it’s more about personnel than attitude. I thought we defended valiantly, I don’t think a change in attitude wins us that game, I think it’s a change in personnel.

I’m more inclined to ask the question: ‘how do we win games like that?’.

We defended well and we have two very decent strikers, so how do we remain solid defensively and still create and cause teams problems at that level. For me, it’s the transition from defence into attack. More specifically a CM with defensive ability but the athleticism to get us up the pitch and create.

Sigurdsson role was superfluous tonight. Perhaps, a player who can come deeper when the opposition has possession and then break and join in with attackers when we win the ball back.

Gomes did alright tonight to be fair. Godfrey immense as always and Mina really enjoyed his tussle with Jesus but all in all just too timid going forward. If we'd progressed I'd say stick with Virginia in net. Looked composed for the most part and made a great save from Sterling. Richy had a few decent chances but nothing more to shout about. Loooong time to get over this now. Hoping we can get JRod ready for Palace on the 5th. Have a good one Toffees!

And also the advantage of bringing on the subs that city and utd were able to bring on for the later stages

First half I thought we were sound but that second half it was just waiting for them to score basically and that's what was a bit frustrating, we lacked belief. Tactics were spot on for an hour but we were crying out for fresh legs, everyone ran themselves into the ground and injuries have had more of an impact than people realise
