Carlo's tactics are Carlo's tactics. He doesn't change them. He is an old school Italian coach. You keep what you have and if an opportunity comes along you take it.

As a City fan you must remember Mancini and his 3 holding midfield players.

City have moved on we are still doing a poor impression of a cautious outdated Italian side from yesteryear. Four years ago we beat you 4-0 today we didn't even lay a glove on you.
I remember De Jong, Barry, Yaya Toure as a midfield three but wouldn't call it "holding". After time it turned out to be bring De Jong on as a substitute and push Yaya Toure forward.
Gomes, Allan, Sigurdsson have zero legs which I was really surprised to see Davies left out. Surely when Doucoure is out Davies has to start?

I think the pips have gone !!!

Can't help but feel disappointment because I think City were there to be beat, so difficult when you look at who they brought on though..
I also can't help but wonder why DCL doesn't seem to be giving it 100%, he's proved me wrong by showing he can bang in goals, I just feel he's lost a few % of his superb attitude, that might just be me observing him wrongly.

Didsapointed but no regrets

Sounds familiar

Game was too late for me so I only saw some highlights today.

I’m not too fussed. No trophy again but let’s be honest, too many injuries this year. Losing Allan and James for a lot of the year was huge. And then now Doucoure.

We’ll be ok in the future. Get another 4 top quality players and we’ll actually look like we can play some football.

The fact that there’s nothing on the bench shows you Carlo has cleaned house and ready for some reinforcements.

I don't want to say too much, I'm disappointed but City are so good, are they so good we can't get out of our half and only have 17% possession? I'm sorry but I ain't having that. Look for me it was a cup game, you can't play for a draw in a cup game it need a winner. So that's all I am going to say. I can't justify players not being able to compete.

Also the players, what can be said about these players we haven't said, they defended for their lives and we got beat, at one point a graphic came up on the screen, after 24 minutes we had made hardly any passes(17% possession ffs) with a pass completion of 59%, that right there is the problem, later on in the game it showed city had nearly 600 passes at 90% pass completion.

Until these unforced errors are eradicated we will never progress anywhere. So for all the praise defensively they get, a lot of it they do because they surrender possession too easily.

Well folks hope you all don't mind me commenting on here, Anybody have any problems with it then its completely understandable.
Not here to take the piss or anything of the sort.
Nice comments on here from a City point of view lots of praise for us which their normally is to be fair.
Just a few questions about tonight's game and how you think Everton are progressing.
Did Carlo get his tactics wrong? As in would you of liked to see Everton higher up the pitch pressing.
No Tom Davies In ahead of Gomes ( which i was happy to see it be honest)
And lately Ben Godfrey who looks like a really good signing! A lot of players Everton have bought of late haven't been what was expected but Godfrey looks captain material.
I think you'll get a wide spectrum of answers regarding this one.

One one hand, I felt we shackled yourselves pretty well with the rigid lines, which meant you didn't really threaten even with your huge level of possession.

Yet on the other hand, the downside to this was that we rarely threatened you and bar Mina's header I didn't think we ever looked likely to score.

We lost so ultimately the tactics weren't successful, but I'm not all doom and gloom as others may be as you're a great team who can easily turn teams over.

A cup game at home with the fans would have been a very different affair and our restricted play wouldn't have been allowed, but swings-and-roundabouts.

I'm not sure he did, although we'll never know. I know Man U beat you a few weeks ago pressing high but I don't think we have the legs to do that to be honest. We lack a sprinkling of quality in certain areas but hopeful for the future. The great Carlo has been here 5 minutes to be fair, in another year or two I'm hoping we can compete properly, with confidence, with youth, with quality.
Good luck to Citeh, a proper old club who won the lottery, fair play, I just wish it was us.
