Everton Youth Teams Thread

That’s not quite true, mate. He’s rated, but not that highly.

For starters, Davies and Baningime are both younger than him. Williams is doing well in the championship. After that there’s a couple of others in the mix like Charsley, and we’ve just spent (relatively) big money for Bowler who plays in his position.

Charsley and Bowler aren't centre-mids.

Just because they’re a year younger doesn’t make them better. Davies has been shocking this season, beni I like but Walsh outshone both of them at under 23. He a class above Williams, and while he’s doing ok at Barnsley and the fans like his aggression and will to win they all say he’s technically poor and gives the ball on a regular basis.

Bowler is a winger

Gana, Schneiderlin, Davies, Rooney-ish, Baningime, Besic, McCarthy maybe Williams.
Like I just said beni looks good, davies has been poor and Walsh outshone then both at under 23.
Williams? You’re having laugh. Walsh is a class above and I will have my house on Walsh playing at a higher level.

Doesn’t say much for besic if beni & davies are a head of him

He couldn’t play, because he was still technically on loan to Birmingham. This is down to unsworth for me. Who has his favourites IE. Davies Williams and beni. There were rumours of a bust up with Ledson before he left.

Unsworth couldn’t wait to praise the likes of Williams last year, when Walsh was player of the year for the 23’s and the only Everton player to make the final 5 or 6 for the leagues best player. Yet Williams was training with the 1st team made the bench a couple of times. Looks like his face didn’t fit
That would be the same Ledson who has recently lost his place in a midtable League One side.

It's not always the players who stand out at youth level who make the best senior players. Sometimes coaches can just see something in a player and believe their ceiling will be higher than somebody who looks terrific at junior level. I've heard a lot of fans talk about Walsh as a star but the harsh truth of it is that not many coaches seem to agree. None of our first team managers, nor Cotterill at Birmingham, nor England junior bosses, have seen him as a stand out star. IF this story turns out to be true, we can seemingly add 19 other PL managers and a few of the bigger Championship managers to that list too.

On the wing or at a push attacking mid.

Suppose so. An attacking mid in his mild I’d call a centre midfielder, personally. He plays more at the top of a 3 than just off the striker. It’s not like Walsh is a Makalele type either. Hence me saying Charsley was “in the mix” - they’re competing for a similar space on the pitch.

Either way, Davies and Baningime are ahead of him.

I'm not really arsed on who YOU think are good/bad I'm just saying from what we've seen with chances given all of those are currently ahead of Walsh in the pecking order and that's not even a deniable fact.

Cotteril as a barometer. Wow I’m
Sure Walsh is devastated he doesn’t rate him. And look at unsworths performance as our part time manger. And now look what sam has done. That tells you a lot

Think the back up squad is now there mate. What we now need is a quality LCB, quality striker, I would say a quality left back as I'm afraid I'm losing faith in Baines' ability to go on beyond this season at this level, and a quality holding mid as Schneids goes missing far too much.

Funnily enough, apart from the holding mid, that's pretty much what we wanted (and didn't get) in the summer window.

Needs to be the right blend of ages to help improve the kids as well...

Beni was playing back for the 23’s last time o looked He only got game time because of unsworth.
