Everton Youth Teams Thread

Yeah agree about Rhys Hughes, he’s the other one who’s impressed me the most in these games - I’ve likened him to Dowell as he has the flicks and style in midfield. It’s interesting that most of the ones we’re talking about are 1st years, so promising in that respect re future development.

Without doubt the strongest area of the side is in the middle of the park. Thats very much in keeping with what we have brought through in recent years. Ledson, Walsh, Davies, Williams, Connolly, Banningime etc all showing to be decent footballers in that area. It used to be strikers in the 90's but we now bring through lads in midfield very well.

I was a little underwhelmed by Hughes. He is well spoken about and without any doubt his physicality gives him a good chance, you can see he will keep growing and should end up close to 6 ft 1/2 I'd say. I thought Hunt played very well and caught my eye more.

Sounds good that, great way to get the U23's competitive and ready to step up to the first team

Well you’d think so , but in the past two seasons we’ve fielded weakened teams , a mixture of youngsters who don’t start regularly and people coming back from injury. We didn’t win a game in last season’s competition, Wolfsburg beat us easily at home. Hope they take it more seriously this time and even include U23s with the 1st team but not playing regularly.

That's a shame, because it looks a good competitive competition for the youth players to make a name for themselves with the manager, hopefully Brands and Silva have a good set up with Unsworth to take it seriously, so they have the under 23s competing and promote from within

We need to istall a mentality through the whole club, from the Ladies' teams, the Youths, kids' teams to the top, that EVERY GAME MUST BE WON and that any other result is not acceptable.
