Everton Youth Teams Thread

Thats awful logic. Simeone wasnt at any of those clubs yet he was a top coach, Mourinho wasnt at any of those clubs. Yet he was a top coach.
Simone won La liga, Mourinho won league/Europa/CL. Can't deflect from the fact Klopp has flopped every final bar one.

For me its quite straightforward.

Arnold looked average at best for England youth and it was like a winger playing full back. Hence why Kenny was 1st choice (by a mile).

What were currently seeing is Arnold looking good in a rapid counter attacking team. It suits him. He also has the media praising him as he plays for the RS and they exaggerate literally everything.

Kenny has all the attributes to become a top class full back. MOTM in games at CB/RB/RWB for England youth and sometimes looked a few levels higher than anyone else on the pitch.

Coleman has been average this season...Kenny should get a start against west ham and id be more surprised if he didn't keep the shirt than Coleman getting back in.

We will see the difference 1-1 in the coming seasons where Richarlison will absolutely school Arnold...Yet Kenny will grow as a top all rounder -- like Neville.

As for Holgate, its totally bizarre what happened to him after the Derby. Hes now had no preseason and I hope Mina is starting soon to give Holgate a breather. This season I want him to be pushing Zouma out by the last few games...its about gradual development for him now to be classed as a starter or in the top 3 at the club. Gomez was class for England youth and I wanted us to sign him...however in top form ive seen nothing from him which is comparable to when Holgate is at his best...again, a case of a player suiting a team and system and being media hyped.

Btw calling Klopp 'der bestest coach in der wurld' is nothing short of a joke. Its kamikaze football spending hundreds of millions of pounds with what to show for it...nothing. The guy is a choker.
I've always seen the comparison with Gary Neville and have no doubt if Kenny got a run in the side he could cement that position .for England youth he was definitely a leader and unflappable . unfortunately Seamus does not seem the player he was before the horrendous injury and probably won't play every game anyway and Kenny playing wouldn't weaker us at all

Ermmm not sure where you're going with that one. They've managed them clubs at a much younger age than Klopp because they are world class. None of the big clubs want or have wanted Klopp hence why he's at a second rate club.

Yeah, I think it's too early for Kenny yet, he probaly is good enough truth be told, i was so annoyed when koeman persisted with Martina instead. But Coleman deserves another few games, could just be a bad start to the season.

We need to replace Unsworth with a proper coach who isn't a kick and rush merchant. Our youth players stand out at every level up to u20s etc but are then suddenly overtaken and left miles behind the progression of other players, who regularly don't have as much natural talent.

People defend the fella but what's he done? He won a title on the back of Niasse goals, a 27 year old playing against kids. And he absolutely blew his big audition with hoofball nonsense and constant obsession with running about. Not one of his players has shown they will be a big player at this level. They stand out like sore thumbs for their lack of technical ability when they play in the first team. Something isn't right.

Kenny is almost 2 years older than trent aa, thats the main reason he was selected ahead of him.

Good post mate.

I am not entirely sure what I was arguing re Arnold/Kenny as I haven't fully cemented my opinion. Part of me believes Arnold is a cut above in terms of his physical attributes. Part of me is saying young players make big strides and can then regress. Objectively you would say Arnold would likely regress a little this year (many reds have been a bit critical of him so far) and that on the face of it it would seem quite likely Kenny kicks on. Right now Arnold is seen as by far the better right back, but go back 12 months and Kenny would have been seen as far better. In 12 months who knows where they will be.

As I've said I think Kenny might lack a yard of pace. However it may have been the system/manager stifling him. What we can now say, is this manager will not stifle him, so if he has it in him we will so it sooner rather than later.

Holgate/Gomez I agree. It is not anti-Gomez, who is a talented young defender. However he's played very little at Centre Back. Holgate has many better performances in that role (though Gomez has shown lots of good attributes at full back). Gomez looks a more physical defender, whereas Holgate a bit more of a rolls royce with very good distribution skills.

I agree with you re Holgate, he needs to be pushing. Don't underestimate Zouma either though, he was a very talented young player, been plagued by injuries but looks at astute signing. He also has ever attribute, at 23 to be a leading centre back. Colgate with a combination of any 2 of the others in a back 3 would cover almost everything you'd need from centre backs in my view.

Can you stop knocking the youth players mate, it’s out of order. Kenny was ahead of Alexander Arnold because the relentless positivity of fans elevated him to a level he wouldn’t have reached if someone on a forum criticised a performance, nothing to do with age thankyou very much.
