Benfica are always very, very strong at youth level.
In my opinion, they’ve probably got the strongest academy for home grown players in Europe.
They come a bit unstuck when clubs like City and Chelsea starting spending huge money on academy kids but just for just raw talent and proper development of players, Benfica are one of the best for me alongside Ajax and Anderlecht.
You never get an easy game against a Benfica youth side.

He’s always been a CM. Was introduced into the team at RB as it’s seen as an “easier” position and been forced to play there more than we’d like because for some reason the academy can’t produce/buy a RB.

Yes but Kenny is 21. We haven’t got anyone below that in the U23’s hence having to use Markelo/Charsley there. It’s an obvious spot we’ve missed with recruitment.
It’s an odd one given that Unsworth once said he was looking for Markelo to replace Beni if he went out on loan/first team , so good forward planning therebut not at RB. Denny played a few games there too, and we don’t seem to have anyone at u18 s looking like moving up , I get the impression Kyle John who’s played at RB at u18 and is a possibility is also a converted midfield/winger.

Write your reply...At the u18s game. Arrived a bit late, 1-0 down apparently. Fulham look quite good, but we've defo been on top. Gordon has looked good, always wants the ball and to take men on, some nice balls over the top as well, but missed a great chance when played in left corner of the 6-yard box. 10 has looked decent a couple times as well.

Won 2-1in the end. Simms with the equalizer i think, header from a couple yards, headed back across goak to him from a corner. Gordon won and converted a pen for the winner with ~5 to go.
16s drew 0-0. Couple decent looking players - 10 and 11 upfront, and tall gangly lad with great hair playung in midfield, wearing 14.
