Barnsley v Everton u23s end in a 1-1 draw and means Everton once again go out the EFL Trophy ,there will be a pen shoot out to decide who gets the extra point as there always is when a draw at 90mins in this
simms makes it 3-0 on 90
Everton beat Bolton 3-0 in the 1st round of the Lancashire Senior cup with goals from Adedoyin,Phillips and Simms, and now face Rochdale away as Blueloon said earlier,in the Q/F of the L.S.C,in a yet to be decided date.
I seem to remember we had a few older players in the last round, Gibson making a comeback , Kiersey maybe others, so we could play some of the older players who are not U23s regulars. Odd timing though with two games so close. The date for the quarter final of the Lancashire senior cup for the u18s v Rochdale has now today been put as Wed 28th November 7pm ko,but instead of it saying we were away, its now changed to saying we are home ? that Q/F game will be a few days before the u18s play man utd u18s in the league
I seen Richard Dunne playing as as a 10 yr old...very good insight, thanks for that. I really don’t mind the competitive nature of his game because it shows he has attitude to go with the ability you highlight. The concern is his size, but as you say he has a few years growth left. I remember meeting Richard Dunne’s parents at Bellefield and immediately understanding where he got his frame from, seeing Astley’s folks might indicate his eventual size.
If Silva ever wanted to play 3 at the back ( as he did for 3 mins last sat ) with Zouma , Mina , Keane then one or two more CB would be neededThe last few games I have seen of the u23s one player has stood out, and that player is Browning.
I know he is now 24 and is very much a man playing against boys at his level, so it is hard to form a proper opinion of him. But if you look through his career he is a man who has been plagued by injuries and this is the first decent run of games he has had for as long as I can remember. From a defensive aspect he looks an absolute specimen. Pace, power and strength in abundance.
I'd given up on him as an Everton player tbh, but he has looked so so dominant this season I'm now asking myself whether there is still a glimmer of a chance for him. he's out of contract in the summer. If I was Brands/Silva I'd be looking to get him a loan at a decent Championship club in January, and be saying to the lad, if you go there and smash it then you'll earn yourself another contract. If he is indeed over his injury woes he could save us a lot of money in the transfer window.
Bernard as wellHe
The only player he's behind in that position is Sigurdsson. No one else
Ones a Brazilian international the other is an England international with loads of PL experienceI was expecting them to get more game time than they have so far. How Bernard/Walcott start over Lookman for one.
I seen Richard Dunne playing as as a 10 yr old
He was huge back then
Comes from a footballing family
The club he played for Home Farm had a motto
A good big one is better than a good little one
They always had big sides
Nicky Byrne ( Leeds goalkeeper and Westlife singer ) played fit the same club , as did many other Irish internationals
I’d say the food bill for Dunne was horrendous lol..absolutely, Bri. Home Farm is very well known for producing youngsters. We’ve had a few Irish academy lads over the years who didn’t come through but were good footballers and good lads. Mate of mine used to house many of them, including Dunne.
I am, and always have been a massive fan of Mason Holgate. I thought he was too easily bullied against West Ham and wasn't surprised when he was dropped for the returning Keane. He's still young so the odd poor game is to be expected, but I was much more concerned by his performance against the Kenyan team the other night. Such was the quality of the opposition, I'm pretty sure our U23 side would have been more than good enough to beat them. Holgate defensively was ok I suppose, but his distribution was dreadful and that's being kind. Watching Browning in the U23s and he's on a different level to Holgate at the moment. If Silva ever wanted to play 3 at the back ( as he did for 3 mins last sat ) with Zouma , Mina , Keane then one or two more CB would be needed
As you say though Browning needs to prove himself in men’s football so hopefully he gets a loan in Jan
