He got injured over there @Eggs got sent back to us only there a week or two...other than he’s on loan at Tranmere, I suppose this suspension to the season is putting a lot of careers on hold.
League 1 beckons....well what's left of it after this blooming virus.Any news on Morgan feeney? Contracts running out in the summer I think? Heard nothing but good things about him last few seasons.
I watched him played against burton Albion this season in the leasing.com trophy, he scored with a nice finish and looked ok, Unsworth spent a lot of the time shouting/guiding him through the game from the touch lineYes good point.
I think there are a few points here though. Firstly the age for a debut has generally increased. It's also worth noting most of the debuts made above were very much the exception to the norm even back then, we had a glut of promoting strikers (you can throw Michael Branch and Nick Chadwick in too). So generally players can break through a little later.
I would also say with Simms, and at the risk of being blunt, I am quite surprised he's as close as where he is now. I watched him at 16/17 and I really wasn't sure of him at all. He seemed to lack a lot of the basics (knowing how to run, where to run, how to use physicality etc). I didn't have him down as a lad who'd get near the first team.
He really kicked on in the 2nd year and has had a good year this year working with Unsworth. He needs a loan I think where he gets booted and toughened up and finds his own solutions to that.
On a side note I watched our win against Sunderland last night and what a footballer Jeffers was. Pace, composure, movement, time on the ball, vision, anticipation etc. Miles ahead of any of our attacking players. What a waste that lads career was.
Have I got this wrong , I thought we were about to sign him months ago ? I just recall looking at his and Derby‘s youth record and thinking it was a good move for us. This is the only place I’d discuss it so does anybody else remember this? There academy seems to have done really well the last few seasonsDerby County's head of academy recruitment Chris Perkins leaves for Everton
Derby County news: Linking up in the Premier League with Carlo Ancelotti and Marcel Brands at Goodison Park is Chris Perkins, the Rams' now former head of academy recruitmentwww.derbytelegraph.co.uk

Cheers, was on way out so didn’t have time to look it up.he had to work the remainder of his contract before starting with us
Hopefully with the ban on the academy up this year will help his cause .I don’t know much about Chris Perkins, don’t think he played professionally with any club, but Derby County youngsters have had a good season, before the season finished abruptly, their U18’s knocked Everton out of the FA youth cup and looked a good team, four or five of their youngsters from their Acadamy have made their first first team this season, so hopefully we have got somebody who will revitalise our own youth teams set up, it certainly needed looking at and has stagnated since Martin Waldron left nearly two years ago.
