Everton Youth Teams Thread

Zero relevance, I am entitled to an opinion, just like you are. You are no more qualified than me to decide if those opinions are spot on or not. Just because I don't rate a player doesn't mean I am pushing an agenda.

My opinion is based on what I've seen and I cant list anything that Tom Davies is strong at on the pitch. Every player has faults, but the players that have been playing and getting results are all contributing something despite those faults. Unfortunately Tom doesn't contribute anything, he's not a strong passer, tackler, or fast and strong. He is a yellow card waiting to happen every game.

So you've just blanked Saturdays game from your mind but no agenda. Okay

I haven't blanked anything, finally having an okay game after 100 appearances (guestimating) doesn't make change my opinion on him. Just like Bernard having a strong game won't change the fact that he is far too consistent to make it at a good level in the Premier League.

Please tell me what you think Davies' strengths are? Nothing stands out at all. Almost every player who's playing this season regularly has a key strength that helps the team. Not everybody, but most. Gomes isn't being passed on either, he has looked better with better players around him but ultimately doesn't do enough for me. He also has done 'okay' in his games this season but 'okay' isn't enough long-term.

You need to quiet down with the agenda stuff, it's an opinion on a footballer. I don't hate the lad, I wouldn't wish any illness on him. He just isn't good enough for both where Everton NEED to be and WANT to be. Same could be said for many, including Pickford.

Feel free to offer an actual quality post in which you say why you're opinion differs from mine, you're entitled to and I would enjoy reading it. He hasn't proven himself to be strong in any of the areas.

I've posted in the Tom Davies thread to someone else. Don't want to clog this one up with something off topic.

It's stemmed from Davies playing for an England youth team now so it's not an issue but that's fine.

I am not knocking you for staying positive about him, that's fine, but I've asked what you think his strengths are and haven't had anything back and the post I see from you doesn't address it.

Anyway, back to work, enjoy your afternoon and evening.

Haha, you just knew from earlier YouTubes Small is going to be a video sensation and we’ll see clips of this for some time. He's three years behind Nkounkou so a good gap and plenty of time for him to develop before any potential blocking , their skill sets are so similar but in a good way , what you need from modern full backs ...... plus of course the ability to defend.
Looks a great prospect. Perhaps more attack minded than defensive? So difficult to tell from the clips that I have seen but that seems to be the view of people that I rate with good football knowledge that have see him play. There was a suggestion that he could play centre back because of his size but I'm not too sure about that. Clearly one to keep.an eye on.

I am genuinely surprised if you’re saying you know people who have seen him play in games at Finch Farm and elsewhere and they think he could play centre back . We currently have 5 centre backs in the u18s , four featuring there regularly, two who are about 6’ 4”” can be seen in clips of Saturdays win at Burnley . We’re not lacking size at CB , and Small’s skill set is perfectly suited to full back, maybe left mid if we were short but again our u18 midfield is packed with players making their mark already so hard to see him playing there. There is though a clear path to him playing LB for the u23s this season .

But he shouldn't be getting game time apparently!
Technically I agree, on the basis of age though, not ability. Still the rules are the rules, however much like our youth teams, you'd like to see the really good players playing up an age group or two, and imo a player with as many top flight appearances as him shouldn't be available for u21 etc tourneys.
