Right Back seems to be a weakness at u18/23/ 1st team in terms of depth of cover. I think Liam Higgins from the u18 got some minutes there for the U23s in pre season friendlies but it’s been mainly John, Connolly and Pennington otherwise , so yeah options are limited. None of the u18 except Higgins are looking like an u23 RB , John requires a lot more work defensively to challenge Coleman/Kenny so if we really are joined up in our thinking we need a decent young RB to come in in January at U23s level who can maybe be developed for next season.

It has been a while since we had a RB of note. Probably James Yates who I know had some England recognition. Mind you, you'd have to say Kenny has done very well there, and I also like Kyle John. You're rigt though, it's rarely the position when you watch the 18's or 23's that there is ever much talk about.

Even now, people talk about Onyango and Dobbin. Underneath that Reece Welch and Isaac Price are getting mentioned a lot. None are right backs. (Obviously Small is a left back).

There does seem to be a revisionism amongst fans that we are the only team with older players. It's not the case.

Often overlooked, but once again every member of our starting 11 came through our u18s not many teams can say that at U23s , although of course a number of those bought in are with the first team or on loan.

I get the impression from a couple of comments that we‘re playing with three CBs and Anderson/ Quirk as attacking full backs. Astley seems to be having a good game.

Arsenal u23s with 10men last 30mins beat Everton u23s 1-0 and move up from 2nd bottom to 4th bottom, Everton now have 4 defeats in 8 league games [3 wins]. Everton drop a place to 8th on GD and are now only 4 points above Relegation with a few of the teams below having either 1 or 2 games in hand
Next u23s game away to Blackburn Friday at 7pm

Everton u18s return to league action home to Derby u18s tomorrow with an 11.30ko, Both teams after a good start [Derby won 1st 3/Everton won 1st 3 & drew 1 of 1st 4] have now both lost there last 3 league games, Everton have not lost 4 u18s league games in a row for many, many years

I believe Thierry Small plays left back. I could be wrong but Isaac Small is meant to even more highly thought of, not sure if they are twins?

Edit it might be Isaac price.

Just a quick note on this, Isaac Price is being spoken about very positively. The only thing I'd say is he's a very small lad, quite slight, but plays in the 10 or central midfield. It will be interesting to see how he develops.Looks a good passer and has good positional sense.
