Everton Youth Teams Thread

He seems very highly rated. Brands obviously fought off challenges for Brainthwaite and got the likes of Gordon and Gibson. Hopefully we can get this lad signed down too. With him, Price, Dobbin and Onyango, plenty of talent there.

We really need the european games to give Nkounkou exposure next season and to get Small on the bench (Digne a day off).

The defence may look quite different in a couple of seasons with:

LB: Nkounkou 20 / Small 16
LCB: Gibson 20 / Branthwaite 18
RCB: Holgate 24 / Godfrey 22
RB: New player(s) needed

All very positive really...

In summers 21 and 22 we'll see a large number of first teamers out of contract and moving on.

Having a group come through from the youth sides into the squad by/in 2022 will save us alot of money and enable us to focus on fewer players for less positions.

My guess is that we'll see a very different defence and team in 2022 than we are looking at now...big rebuild underway.

I see things like this as a bit of an acid test for Brands (which he has done well with so far). Onyango was also linked away and we got him tied down.

I think Small could play left side midfield too, and could Nkonkou too

got to say I reckon Small is the single biggest talent in our youth set up right now between u18 and u23... even the Dobbins et al I’m still in a holding pattern .. but Small is definitely causing a stir !

I'd say Onyango mate, but Small is very good.

Honestly I take that as very encouraging you feel that way. I’m keeping tabs on Onyango and he’s doing great but not there yet myself to build my expectations to the Liam Walsh level frenzy I succumbed too.
I haven’t seen a heck of a lot of Small.. but what I saw got me off my chair.... he’s a younger English version of Nkounkou to me. Has everything.. very strong.. very quick.. very skillful...
