I spotted Ronnie Moore at Rhyl on Wednesday night too. I think one of our kids is on his way to Hartlepool.

Footballers aren't exactly known for their intelligence mate....
You can be thick as a plank but brilliant at football.

Another of Pennington's ex-gaffers...
Shayne Lavery singled out as the future of Northern Irish football...

Had a look on the Coventry forum and they're mixed between wanting Pennington back because he was one of their best players and thinking that they need attacking players much more than an upgrade at CB. It could maybe be Henen or a different forward that he wanted to see.

However, Mowbray has since revealed he was watching other targets in action, telling the Telegraph: “I like Matty Pennington as a footballer but I would have to say that’s not the main reason why I went. “I went and sat with Joe Royle who is a friend of mine and ex-colleague, and Joe’s job now is looking after all the loan players at Everton so I had a good chat with him about a few things. We’ll see if we get any fruition out of that."
“I think Everton’s potential thoughts with Matty would be to put him into the Championship because he did so well for Coventry City. "It’s about the player’s progression path towards their first team and that might be that he’s done well in League One, now can he step up and do it in the Championship and then the first team. “It was an interesting game and a good one to watch with some good footballers on show.
“I’d have to say there were half a dozen players at that football club who are young and you’d think are not bad football players. Let’s see if it brings any fruits over the next week or two.”
Ones suggested at the link are Ledson, Grant, Williams and Dowell. They also mention Courtney Duffus but he is out with an injury until September.
Agree, a relationship like that could be beneficial for both teams, not too far away either so the lads can still regularly get back to visit family/friends.Thought that would be it. It would be good if we could set up system where we send our young players in need of League One level football to them and they guarantee that they'll get the playing time.
I hope the kids who are good enough get a fair shot in the coming years. There's going to be immense pressure for the club to spend with the increased TV revenue, and I hope that doesn't push some of the academy products out.
Lurgan teenager Shayne Lavery is making an impression with Everton since his move in March and both Joe Royle and David Unsworth believe he has all the attributes to make it in the game.
Everton legend Royle, both a player and manager at Goodison, is now helping with the youth development at the club alongside David Unsworth, also revered on the blue half of Merseyside.
“My advice to Shayne is to listen, learn and enjoy yourself,” said Joe, still the last manager to win a trophy at Everton.
“At 16 it is a wonderful time for a young footballer coming into the game. In these modern times footballers are going to retire wealthy people with nothing to worry about. If Shayne makes the grade at Everton and I’m hearing terrific reports about him it would be fantastic. It was touch and go if we brought him over for the tour to Ireland.
“He just has to work hard and keep scoring goals.”
Under 21 manager Unsworth says hard work day in and day out is what is needed to bring rewards.
“I saw a lot of Shayne when he came over on trial and he certainly impressed me,” said David.
“He can play anywhere along the front line, he is strong and competitive and hungry and that is one aspect that really stood out for me.
“He has got that hunger to be a good player and to be successful. He is in the system now, he has to get his head down and work his socks off every single day he is in that full-time environment. We will support him and be patient and who knows at the end of it we may have a player who will play in our first team.”
During his trial in March Shayne played for the Under16s, managed by former Everton and Republic international Kevin Sheedy, and scored four goals in a 6-0 win over Rotherham. He also scored against Manchester United. Following the game Everton offered him a two year scholarship contract.
