Everton Youth Teams Thread

I'm sure the hypocrisy of that is lost on you.

Had a pretty torrid couple of months so maybe I'm not posting straight but entirely sure I haven't misrepresented anything here. Either way, this doesn't make good reading for anyone else so I've said my piece and I'm done.

All I said was Baxter, in my opinion, has more to offer in terms of advice for academy kids than Baines does. I didn't say Baines doesn't have a lot to offer but professionalism is ingrained in the club and the 1% that make it here regularly train with model pros and get that learning anyway. The 99% that don't make it, the ones that need to drop right down the leagues and build themselves up, maybe deal with being released, maybe deal with having too much money too young, maybe have a bad group around them outside of football, would find Baxter's experiences very much invaluable.

Would you rather talk to a recovering alcoholic about the pitfalls of drinking or someone that has always been able to handle their drink?

Never seen him play, is he close to being ready?
Don't follow u23s that closely but hasn't he been out for 6 months? Can't recall if he's been getting a spot on the bench, either. Have heard a few at the match suggest him though.

Just back from injury, 3 u23 appearances I think but not a full 90.
Big unit and starting to fill out so probably the most physically ready.
Anything short term would be a bonus but hopefully he can emerge as a proper squad option in the long term

If Onyango gets minutes before Gbamin you'd have to think that Gbamins career with us would be over.

no one even really knows what sort of player Gbamin is unless they watch german footy but from limited appearances and what we've read he seems to be more defensive and sits in front of the back line.
Onyango fairly similar to Doucoure in the box to box style.
but yeh Gbamin unlikely to have a future with us you'd have to say

There’s no mention of Gbamin in the Athletic article, a different type of player than Onyango but one you’d expect to be in the mix. From the 45 mins Onyango played against Burnley on Monday I though he looked sharp, willing to carry the ball forward as well as do the defensive bit. In short , fitness wise I’d say he was ready to come off the bench if given the chance, but I wouldn’t start him yet. His play marks him as an intelligent footballer who in my view “ does what he’s told” , and by that I mean he fits into whatever pattern a manager wants him to play whether it’s more defensive in front of the back four, or more expansive box to box.
PS . A positive from the Athletic article is that they didn’t go for the lazy ‘ Patrick Viera” comparison, I’m sure others will in the future though.

Dont forget the Everton u18s are away to Liverpool u18s Saturday morning with a 11am ko Live on LFCTV- Everton have lost the last 5 derby's or 9 of the last 11

While Everton u23s 2nd bottom with the 2nd most defeats no surprise are away to Chelsea u23s who are only 2 points better off than Everton, Game is a 1pm ko - dont think chelsea have it on

Dont agree tbh didnt baines get released from us then go wigan to kick on. Gor me baines had more to offer worked his way up from wigan to us and then to play for england. I do think baxter does have something to offer is good to get both sides of the game

That last 15 minutes v Watford, our midfield was screaming out for a gbamin type player, Rafael clearly doesn't fancy him. What I have seen of him in his rare appearances, the pace of the prem and even the championship look to fast for him. File under donkey.

If he’d never got injured after he arrived here the pace of the league would have been fine for him. He was a monster in Germany.
